Lunchtime Catch Up Podcast- Bombers v Cats match review pod out now

Pommy gives Dodoro a clip, then says Rosa has been a breath of fresh air for getting deals done.

Grant couldn’t get a word in to argue his point!

Did he cut him off?

That was a great listen @CJohns

I really enjoy his insight and his sense of humour.

Nah, he was talking about how Rosa made the most of getting the trades done, and has set the club up for a huge draft next year…… and it’s all built upon by great relationships with other club.

Then he went on to say, that it’s been a massive change for Essendon, as a lot of
clubs didn’t want to deal with Dodoro, as he’d spend days haggling over a 4th round pick…… and trying to ā€˜win the trade and draft’.

Then he kept talking about father-son rules.

So Grant couldn’t get a word in.

Overall a very enjoyable and interesting episode. But one that I want to hate.

Every player selected and spoken about seemed to be a really solid and astute selection that it’s hard to see how each player doesn’t make it and become something.

Which statically is impossible. Basically it’s the hope. You got me hoping after the draft and it’s gonna kill me one day soon :joy:

Just continue with the hope and be happy until it’s time to not be happy.

Happy is uncomfortable. I’m not sure I know how.

When your an Essendon supporter you tend to explore different techniques and coping mechanisms, this is the one I’m currently going with…

Great podcast. When I first heard the accent I thought ā€˜I can’t do this’ but I got over it and really enjoyed it.

A couple of things.
Kako’s stats are padded out because he started playing midfield. So don’t expect that output as a genuine forward.
Secondly I laughed when pick Rhys Unwin (61), Zak Johnson (70) and Archer Day-Wicks should have been top 50. They can’t all fit in the top 50!

Well done lads. Nice recap. Also a great slap down of AFL footy.

Enjoyed that - thanks Scooter. The guy knew his stuff.

So far this week, the best training report and draft analysis has come from a Fark Carlton supporter.

Great pod. its interesting seeing Pommy talking in depth about the draft when im most familiar with him from screaming about how bad Carlton are on blue abroad.

He probably didn’t need a seat and shade

Agreed with his point on our midfield lacking IQ and class. Hopefully over the next couple of years this can be adjusted through the draft, trade, FA

Really good episode.
I have watched a few pommie from OZ youtube clips in the past.
Interesting to hear his back story.

It feels to me like the 2006 national draft, in that we could get a number of 100 gamers out of this bunch of lateish picks.
In 2006 we got a few kids in with earlyish picks and everything was positive
lets forget Gumby
Jetta, Hislop, Davey, Houli, Reimers
plus Veteran Mal Micheal came out of retirment.
Rama redrafted. too, lets forget the other rookies.

best part of draft was addressing list needs
small forward - Kako, Unwin
power mid/fwd Day-Wicks
Tall fwd/rck Gerryn
Small/medium def Nguyen,Clarke
Utility Mid/Def/fwd with high footy IQ in transition and leadership Credentials Z Johnson, plus played with Kako and Caddy, captained his School side and co captained his NAB league side
