Lunchtime Catch Up Podcast - Nate Caddy & Xavier Duursma join the show

Can’t wait to listen and thanks for doing. This season I have 0 expectations and am as least interested as I ever been - I hope the passion isn’t dying for good. My poor girls 20 and 24 have never seen a finals win! That is very difficult to comprehend. I just hope Caddy, Kako and the younger players can finally turn the tide.

Think many fans are similar. I found myself the fade out last year really deflating. Sadly i think there is a feeling also that this year might be still a 9-13th type ladder team.

Im not watching this year for the sake of my own mental health. Suns loss tipped me over the edge and I need to give it up for a while.

Ginnivan and Watson sticking their tongues out and taking post game selfies after those farks beat us by 10 goals? I’m not doing it

It was the previous year, that sunk me. I’m just not that trusting.

I was expecting it last year. I was surprised that people weren’t expecting it, when it has happened more often than not over 20 years.

Only sad if of the club doesn’t know where it’s at.

they’ve got one chance to show that they finally understand.

And not with the usual weasel words, but with actions.

Get that part right and we could well be on our way.

Tsatas right down your throat - highlight of the pod

Nah this year is the year we win the flag

My fav episode to date.great interviews.
My son was blessed to have his 1:1 trying session with Zavier in November and he starts playing for Nate’s junior club Yarrambat this season.
Both the boys gave great insight.
If both play 20 games this year we’re going to have more wins than some Blitzers are expecting

Cheers for that. Much appreciated

That makes no sense, everyone keeps telling me that Stringer was the problem and he is the only one of note that left the club. We should based on people’s hatred of Stringer be a much better team this year!

Stringer is/was part of the problem (of many problems) because of his poor physical condition history.
No one is questioning that he was in our best forwardline, and would be again in 2025.

We needed to get younger given our trajectory since 2021, and he just happens to be the oldest in that forward group.

I realise you are probably trying to be funny.

Refreshing to hear some fan boying out in an interview. Duursma and Caddy accomodating as well.
Good insights too.

Yep pretty much sums up my position with the club ATM. I spent a lot of time contemplating whether I renew my membership. Ended up downgrading my Highmark membership to a Flexi 8 which will mean much less Matchday attendances. Have no enthusiasm whatsoever for this season, last year’s completely deflated me.

Great Pod guys. I have to say it’s refreshing hearing players that don’t speak in generalisations and say ‘obviously’ every third word. Both Xav and Nate were both really really likeable guys and can’t wait to see them this year in action.

I also think it’s a year without finals but the margin between the top teams and those pushing for 8 is not what it use to be. We are not far away with some further development and picking up a couple of guns. On the other hand I actually would not be surprised if we climbed the ladder this year.

Great pod guys and very funny ending which made me laugh out loud while walking my dog.
I really hope the boys are practicing what they’re preaching in terms of doing the extra 1 percenters with everything off and on the field.

I could see Caddy becoming part of the leadership group in a few years.

If not captain.

There are a number of other reasons why most think we’ll miss finals. To name a few.

  • Most other clubs around us have improved their list.
  • 2024 - We had our best injury run in a decade
  • Already have a number of injuries within pre-season
  • Pre-season training IMO has been a step below what we had in 2023-2024

LOL, so we are simply crap and the blame poured onto Stringer for not chasing was just a fallacy!

We may have had a better run than the previous few years but we still had Reid & Baldwin miss basically the whole year, with Parish/Ridley/Shiel/Setterfield/Guelfi missing at least half the season.

Duursma also missed 8 weeks, Draper missed 7, so whilst it was an improvement I wouldn’t consider it a good run with injuries by any stretch. Plenty of work still to do in this area IMO.

We have been crap with Jake playing or out injured for long stints. So neither changes the dial

Won 11 games when he kicked 41 in 2021. Won 11 games when he kicked 42 in 2024.

Won 11 games when he had more injuries and only kicked 21
