Lunchtime Catch Up Podcast - Rohan Connolly talks through Crows poor game

Leadership is not something I took away from that interview.

Duursma on the other hand…

Yep, I know that.

Because he’s 19.

There’s a lot to work with.

  1. High standards

  2. Observant of how his team mates are travelling

  3. Excellent communicator.

Plenty of leadership potential there

Yes, you are right calling out the players injured last year but I think we had worst injury lists in the past.
Shiel and Setterfield came back in the 2nd half of the season but played VFL due to no spots available in the senior side.

I should rephrase that and say we had a better run (not perfect) injury wise in 2024 compared to the past decade.

caddy’s arrogance is a breath of fresh air

i at least have some faith that he can back his words up

agree,
part of it is talking the talk, if opponents start believing it and he gets off the leash. There AFL media will be throwing out comparisons to yesterdays stars.

If your a young KPD you know that Caddy will run you around and fly for marks, plus he is very quick getting back to his feet and getting involved in the play again.

Great episode! I rate dursmah so highly and the things he says about small things adding up, 1 extra metre here , dont sook when something goes against you is everything we need at this club, so happy to have him!

Thanks mate. Those shows often get the most love… especially those who cant make it to training. I will be there tomorrow and will do a training report for Patrons maybe even same day .

Enjoyed that Ep. Pleased to hear Vozzo’s employment experience and he communicates well. Corporate but has well rounded football experience.

Initially I was a little put off by the early extension for BDB. Clearly no guarantees that we’ll be top 4 and winning flags in the next 3-5 years however there does seem to be a clear and aligned plan on player development and rebuilding a list and football program that is highly competitive.

Based on his win loss history BDB is unlikely to take us to a flag, but he may very well be the most significant contributor to moving past Essington over the next 3-10 years

Here it is!!! Essendon have familiar transition and polish issues early that ends up being the difference. Jye Caldwell however looks to be taking the next step to being A grade.

Surely it’s Ay-mon, not aMON?

Thats your take away?

I think our match committee are on notice for me. Unfortunately it took 2 injuries for the team balance to be corrected. The boys on Don the Sash predicted the issues our tall backline were going to have against the smaller forward line of the Hawk. Also our forward line needs to simply have Gresham and Kako as our pressure small forwards to help contain teams transitioning off half back. Felt like they were more worried about stopping Hawthorn than just letting our players play in their natural postitions.

Spot on. Think blind Freddy could see that there was no chance we’d match up well with the defence we went in with

Our forward line arguably only had one small player in kako. Gresham being sub was strange to say the least

Unfortunately the match committee appear to be of the mindset of just picking out best 23 and having blind faith they can compete with whoever the opponent happens to be any given week.

Throw in Redman as a starting mid and you could tell the team was not set up to win at all cost.

I expect this will most likely be the theme all season.
