Lunchtime Catch Up Podcast - tough times

In 2013 we were so successful they were so worried we’d win the premiership, they threw us out of the finals. Hird was a good coach, better than any we’ve had since then.

That wasn’t the context being discussed either…

Appreciate you putting out a pod even when you are feeling so down on the club. Can’t be easy. Your feelings reflect my own and weirdly listening to pods this week has helped me so thank you.

I feel like this is a bit unfair.

These guys (along with other pods) have fronted up every week for years, investing tremendous time and energy into something that just never seems to improve - that takes a toll on you and honestly, they’re far more professional about it than I am.

I think most of us know how it feels to struggle with this club.

One thing we can all agree on, as fans we deserve so much better from this club and it’s players.

I don’t know how you do it guys, but im glad that you do. It’s a comfort to know that i am not alone in how i feel

Amen, pretty harsh IMO. It’s a credit to the boys (and other Essendon content creators) that they’ve remained as positive as they have to this point.

Yea fair enough, they deserved a down day.

It is kind of funny, all these podcasts started after we were successful, and have really seen zero success of Essendon the whole time they have been in existence.

YouTube, facebook, Twitter etc didn’t even exist the last time we won a final.

We could have MySpaced about it, though.

Yeh for me I just found it a tough week - but you have to front up but be real and thats where I was at. Hayes news for some reason just bloody frustrated me (on top of everything else). Coming into our 10th year on the show soon so i think most know I am more a glass half full type and pretty optimistic. But yeh I am sick of losing (though yes we need to bottom out), sick of us being in the news for all the wrong reasons and sick of injuries. Thats the reality. Dont think I am alone on this one. Sharp, Kako and Clarke back in next 2-3 weeks…thats at least something.

  1. Really harsh for mine. If the boys were up and about pretending all is fine and things are grouse they would be called delusional and club mouthpieces again….cant win

After reading comments from Hayes game (he played well), I was pretty keen to see him in the 1’s
So disappointing for him, but also we miss his development.

Other injuries could turn a corner in 3 or so weeks, but thats also as we come into the hardest part of our draw after the bye.

Have had a listen this week. Genuinely you guys need to do yourselves a favour and get as far away from the club as you can (over the bye?).

The club’s not going well, and have stacks of injuries etc, it is what it is. Confidence can turn things quickly. It doesn’t feel like it now, but with Brad Scott gone it’s all up from here. Trust the players to come good once they are in a positive environment. In the meantime just look for the glimpses from the kids and to the draft.

It’s always darkest before the dawn, etc etc. Don’t let it ruin your life, it’s just a football team.
