Lunchtime Catch Up Podcast- what kind of club do we want to be?

I’m also not buying the “two friends who meet everyday in the CBD for lunch to catch up on everything to do with Essendon” (paraphrasing) line anymore…

What’s your take on Duursma’s HF role? I thought I heard Scott in one of his recent vids mentioning something along the lines of how Perkins plays the selfless unique role. Now I see Perkins is available from this week.
Do you see the shift as permanent if goes well or a temporary one until a Perkins or the like is back?
Although Prior has been doing some wing I feel like he’s plugging a hole at training. If we were serious about the Duursma shift I think someone more obvious would have shifted and trained to become a wing for the season.

Yeh i sense its more possibly permanent. Duursma i think believes it’s at least for most of 2026 anyway. He does kick goals, pressures well and marks at a high point. So I am not against it. For me i just have better players on the wing for the future than Prior right now. Farrow playing some wing time on Friday didn’t squash that though either.

I like Duursma forward for the same reasons. Might go quiet but it’s an important role.
The interchange wing probably doesn’t require that much of a specialist/ permanent player anyway.
I do sense we’ll know a lot more in a few days time given Hawks will be one game up on us and the win% of round 0 teams. I think we’ll be going full bore.

I dislike Duursma forward for two reasons.

  1. He is an excellent winger, and we still have a glaring hole there.

  2. I want more speed and class in that HF role. I like that he is great overhead, but in my opinion Langford already has that job. Why not both? Too slow.

We certainly have a fascination with moving players around.

Are they?

So that they can fit Prior on a wing?

Guys, I love your work. So appreciate of the Bombers content.

I gotta say though, if you’re doing a podcast, is there any chance Grant could at least watch the practice games?

It’s a bit ridiculous that he’s doing a match review podcast without watching the game live or on replay.

To be fair, you can pretty much guess these days!

Maybe more my mistake. I just came back from Ballarat and thought he might not have but he did. I talked to him like he hadn’t i realise. Think he almost went with it to not make me look silly tbh

Fair play!

How early is too early to get Rohan Connolly on the pod for another rant?

I’m keen :man_raising_hand:t3:

Fair call lol. I was fuming last night. Players and coach. All were responsible for that performance. No doubt scrutiny is on the coach and for me personally some experienced midfielders who got pantsed by Saints two weeks ago and now the Hawks

Key point I would focus on is now we have replaced s&c we are having an improvement in less injuries. Maybe consideration to improving coaching in the same manner is the next logical step

Cj, no
Doubt players need to accept some responsibility.

However the lack of a plan, insipid setup and to
Allow them the freedom to play and accumulate so many uncontested marks was a disgrace. The inability to defend the ground or opposition transition was diabolical.

The players were not set up for success tactically.

The loss of Draper is really going to hurt and again calls into question how poorly we handled that negotiation.

How can I be over it after round 1? Watching Brad’s comments just infuriated me further.
