Make the US Politics Thread Great Again

haha… this one-liner in an opinion piece by no less than the New York Times Editorial Board:

“Mr. Trump doesn’t have a relationship to the truth, but may once have had a fleeting affair with it, albeit apparently covered by a nondisclosure agreement”.

CNN reporting the Gates’ plea deal did not revolve around cooperation on the case against Manafort, which the Special Counsel did not feel he needed help on, but rather information about contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian interests.

This is kinda crazy

Right wing media propaganda, unsurprisingly.

War on ISIS faltering

Article on how the political situation is affecting the war on ISIS. Seems a number of US military personnel on the ground are pretty frustrated.

The US seemed to support the UK when it expelled ~100 Russian diplomats. But unlike the UK which has forced a reduction in numbers, the US will allow them to be replaced. So not really much of a sanction at all.

LOL.

Imagine if Labor or Turnball did that here, Trip would have a seizure.

Nah, he’d offer a justification.

I liked New Zealand saying they wanted to chuck out some Russian spies in solidarity… but they couldn’t identify any.

As a follow up to a sterling show of support for an ally, the Kremlin (not exactly the most trustworthy of sources to be fair) have announced that during Trump’s “DO NOT CONGRATULATE!” congratulatory phone call to Putin over another stage-managed consolidation of power included an invite to the WH from the POTUS.

Cue IceTemple comparing it to Clinton’s intern program in 3…2…1…

Seeing as everything else is, surely the comparison by any Trumpers would be to Obama’s, . … ??

Of course it should attract criticism, but I do wonder just how many people of an ethnic minority would want to work as an intern for Trump.

It’s the sort of story that only entrenches support for Trump (i.e. “Fake news”, “they were picked on merit” etc).

In response to a motion to dismiss made by Manafort, claiming that Mueller was exceeding his authority with the direction of his investigation, the Special Counsel filed to the court previously classified instructions from the Department of Justice basically saying that he doing exactly what he was told to do.

China’s selective list of tariff relaiatory measures could worry a few exporters in the Republican States

The Chinese and the Europeans know that by and large the Republican Congress and Senate hate tariffs. This is a smart move…
