haha… this one-liner in an opinion piece by no less than the New York Times Editorial Board:
“Mr. Trump doesn’t have a relationship to the truth, but may once have had a fleeting affair with it, albeit apparently covered by a nondisclosure agreement”.
CNN reporting the Gates’ plea deal did not revolve around cooperation on the case against Manafort, which the Special Counsel did not feel he needed help on, but rather information about contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian interests.
The US seemed to support the UK when it expelled ~100 Russian diplomats. But unlike the UK which has forced a reduction in numbers, the US will allow them to be replaced. So not really much of a sanction at all.
As a follow up to a sterling show of support for an ally, the Kremlin (not exactly the most trustworthy of sources to be fair) have announced that during Trump’s “DO NOT CONGRATULATE!” congratulatory phone call to Putin over another stage-managed consolidation of power included an invite to the WH from the POTUS.
In response to a motion to dismiss made by Manafort, claiming that Mueller was exceeding his authority with the direction of his investigation, the Special Counsel filed to the court previously classified instructions from the Department of Justice basically saying that he doing exactly what he was told to do.
