Make the US Politics Thread Great Again

Corbyn is a Boomer and he is doing OK.

I might even make a comeback, seeing the younger MALES types have no farking idea.

Jacinta Ardern & Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would like a word for a start.

Given the state of Brexit negotiations in particular and the UK Tories in general, Corbyn should be 30% in front. Instead, he’s messing up on Brexit, and has committed some spectacular own goals on stuff like anti-semitism. He’s only looking competitive because of how bad his opposition is.

Please don’t.

The entire political landscape at the moment is boomers clinging to 20th century ideals, young people ignoring them and creating their own reality and doing just fine, and Xers going…welp, our kids can’t be any worse than our parents.

Given the things you have said in here, that is genuinely frightening.

Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren must be Republican plants to just hand the GOP gold like they did voluntarily this close to such a critical mid-term.

And as I type that Trump, possibly feeling miffed that people were looking at something else just for a moment, does his best to minimise Democrat errors.

Are you referring to the “Horse Face” thing?

What a knuckle dragging fkwit this tool is.

What has Warren done?

Made herself look foolish by passing off a DNA test showing that if you go back enough generations you may find one ancestor with native american heritage as some kind of win. If it is a win it is of the very lukewarm type and it is far more likely to animate the fervent Trumpistas than Democrat turnout.

You can’t shame Trump, or his followers. He and they don’t care about being proven wrong (even if the DNA test had shown that - and it doesn’t. The response from a Cherokee Nation official was pretty pointed).

It is a distraction of the type that the Democrats just seem to blunder into regularly. Trump plays them into this kind of thing easily.

To be fair, when a dem does this sort of thing it’s a big story in the news all week. When trump does it, it’s just another day.

Hasn’t she always said it was her great grandmother who was Cherokee? Which given that ancestor might not have been full blood, her DNA results perfectly match what she’s been claiming.

The real issue here is that Dems have to learn to put this stuff out earlier. If Obama had released his birth certificate from day one, if Warren had done the DNA earlier, it would reduce (by years) the period the opposition has to make up crap about them. Its not fair that the standard is what it is, but it is the reality.

Of course. That is how it will work. So don’t do it. And don’t do it when there are things to talk about it that might really resonate and get people to vote.

Right or wrong, it doesn’t matter. It is an utterly irrelevant distraction that the Dems would not be talking about if they were even remotely disciplined. And whether the response is in good or bad faith it will get more of a rise out of the GOP in opposition than Democrats in support.

Regardless of Trump’s lunacy, the issue with Warren is that she used her “Native American heritage” to further her law career and then later her political career. In particular, she claimed that she was so Native American that her mother was discriminated against by her father’s family. The worst part, for her, is that her DNA was not even (or not exclusively, I can’t remember) tested against Native American DNA, but to Colombian, Mexican and Peruvian. The fair dinkum Cherokees are disgusted with her. It’s a farce.

Not sure if this story has made it’s way to Oz but it is snowballing over here. Insane!

The alleged executioner did his forensic science training at a Melbourne University, seemingly arranged through the Saudi Government to enhance capacity to manage crowd injuries during Mecca.

Well to be fair, there’s now one less person who can potentially be injured at Mecca. And that’s down to his management. So …
