Excuse my ignorance but even if it is proven that Russia indeed provided the missiles to the pro-russian Ukrainians, then what?
Sure some leaders will use firm language and threaten heavier sanctions. Ultimately though Russia is far to strong for any real damage. Plus if they go to hard on Putin he might just actually take over Ukraine
The sanctions will begin to hurt the Russian economy. The new sanctions are aimed at some of Russia's must powerful company's, including oil and gas producers and state-owned defense firms. This will put pressure on the leadership of Putin. But Putin has shown time and time again that he does not take these types of measures all that seriously.
The biggest issue is the flow of arms across the Russian border which has not stopped.
Doesn't most of the Ukraine's gas come from Russia? they can just turn off the taps if they are pushed.
80% of gas comes from Russia and Turkmenistan
So basically the best possible scenario is for the Ukrainians to allow the bodies of the victims to be returned home, nothing more to see here.
It's certainly going to be awkward at the G20 later this year.
You mean the pro-russian separatists, the one's that have looted the bodies, removed or destroyed evidence including the black boxes, shot at and impeded monitors and blew the plane out of the sky
