Match review v gold coast

Suns came to play and got a massive momentum boost when Hooker went down, they snagged the next four goals. We looked gone in the third, but managed to steady in the last. In the final quarter you could tell after the first minute we were back in the game and controlled the ball in our F 50 for much of the time. Lynch's last goal was a result of Steinberg and Baguley colliding. Their run was a factor but moving Ryder and Hurley forward was a mater stroke, reminiscent of Sheedy.

Was just great to watch us get over the line and make the finals, despite listening to Dunstall barrack for GC all match. He is a flog of the highest order. Let’s pump the scum next week and head into September with some momentum.

Great game from Mr ACL!

Steinberg and Ambrose are battlers, you need better third tall defender/forward than those 2 if you want to be a top side.

Good, grinding win.  Hooker going off messed us up big time and it took a good 20 minutes to re-adjust.   We should have done it more quickly.  Unfortunately, that let GCS back in the game.  GCS are a good up-and-coming team.  They have been out of form recently, but were decent against Port and threw everything at us - they had to 'cos it was 'lose and you're done'.   I don't think we should underestimate how well GCS played.

We were pretty good for large parts of the game.  Our kicking efficiency was miles better than last week and so was our transition.   We made much fewer errors than last week too.  Our biggest weakness today, as always, was stopping their transition from D50.  GCS also rolled the dice a bit running ahead of the ball in the second half, and got lucky a few times.

I suspect people are going to cut the mermaid into fish sticks today, but I thought for the majority of the game he was better than last week and held his man pretty well.  He just panicked a bit in the last with 3 or 4 costly errors, but I think he did show he has something still to work with.

And as has been well documented by other posters, Goddard is cooked.  Ok, so he was BOG, but he did not kick 5, save 5 and have 50 possessions.  DELIST.

The Good:
- We won
- Orazio looked good

The Bad:
- Ambrose was terrible
- Without Fletcher/Hooker our defense looks very vulnreable
- Winderlich is cooked, rest him next week so he is right for finals
- Playing bad football at this time of the year - not a good sign

The good
ME
The bad
YOU.

Raz will be a good pick up. Colyer was v good. ran to good positions, does little things like the block for Hurls etc. Ambrose is a selection thought bubble. Reckon we will be much better next week.

Stein will be ok. Worth persisting with. Will miss Fletch v Roos in the finals. . Daniel Chick didnt need all his fingers. . . .

In Hepp for Raz. Licka sub. Maybe another change for Ambrose?

Not enough love for Zach Merrett imo.

His tackling for a first year player is phenomenal. Good pace, and an amazing left foot.

Yet to miss a shot on goal.

WE ARE ESSENDON!!! WE ARE ESDENDON!!!

Good solid win.

pretty impressive from goddard to play out the last qtr and a half with an ACL. what a leader.

Like that didn’t notice heppell missing from midfield.

Goddard back in form

Carlisle played his role.

Hurley was good when went forward and got lots of the ball. Loved goal from outside 50. Carlisle better match up for lynch.

Zaka played well.

Looks like we're in.

Still - wins against the dees and saints would have had us on 56 points right now and potentially equal 4th.

Most unpredictable team in the league.

thought it was a broken finger??

Looks like we get Norf week one.

■■■■ YES

Did Goddard partially tear his ACL?

Given they are both first year players, l think they show great promise and are developing nicely. l look forward to them having productive careers in the red and black.

No.

However he might come around to your place and rip you a new one.

WE ARE ESSENDON!!! WE ARE ESDENDON!!!

Well now, we can't be both, can we?

Surely can't take Steinberg into finals.
