Matt Rosa - the new list boss man

Seems to be a great get for Saints. Wonder if we sounded him out

I was wondering the same. He’d have been a good appointment and our involvement (if at all) would be worth understanding. I know our structure moving forward is different and that means skill sets possibly misalign, this recruiter would’ve been a worthy replacement.

Yeah he’d have been perfect as a Dodoro replacement if we had any interest in a Dodoro replacement. Built a premiership winning list, has shown he can identity top tier talent

This so much.
Rosa is just going to be the patsy who cops the knife for yet another season of failure with a Dodoro list.
Just accept that we are stuck with Dodoro forever and that we will never win another final whilst he is there.

And if we do win one, we’ll be quick to point out it must be because Rosa is calling the shots.

See, this game is easy!

I’m pretty sure that the Dodo cultists will claim it as his success

St Kilda are killing it with their off field and their recruiting in the draft was superb imo. Sos is a quality recruiter, even last year i was impressed by his draft.

There’s a few of them on here and judging by how he has kept his job for so long there must be a few on the Essendon board

He kept his job because he done exactly what Sheedy wanted him to do, that and he knows where the bodies are buried.

There are no cultists that I’ve seen. There are some that can put a slightly more positive spin on his tenure than most of us. But cultists…yeah nah.

I assept nothing of the sort.

I’m not following the angst. Do we not think Rosa is a good candidate to step into Dodoro’s role? We set the ball rolling for removal of Dodoro by hiring Rosa, then set up an appropriate handover that didn’t ruin the 2023 draft.

The alternative would be to leave Dodoro in the seat without any action and hope that an experienced quality candidate came available, but that’s not guaranteed. Grabbing Rosa and getting the handover started is a transition that is guaranteed.

What’s the issue I’m not seeing?

Dalrymple didn’t become available today. He would have been gettable all year.

While Rosa looks a promising prospect, he is inexperienced and has never had any experience in AFL list management & recruitment.

Meanwhile Dalrymple has worked with the best list managers & recruiters in the league.

I’m yet to be convinced that Dodoro is walking away from the job. Even he has said this. The club has downright lied to members in recent years, on stuff like this.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

But Rosa and Dalrymple would be a great duo, and an opportunity to move Dodoro and Forster-Knight on from the club.

When do we as a club pay too much for management and support staff ? I’m all for investing in development coaches right now but have we become top heavy in upper management.

The 3 big jobs you need to get right as a club;
CEO
Head Coach
List & Recruiting manager

When you continually butcher the recruitment of these jobs, you’re in football obscurity for 25 years.

We have been a disaster in all 3.

The continued excuse about player development, is smoke and mirrors to save the jobs of these 3 men.

Save the job? Haven’t we replaced 2 (arguably 3) already?
