Melbourne Death Ride 2025 - we’re getting the next Andy McGrath

Richmond are the ones to watch regarding this. Such an incredible draft hand they had in last years draft, which looks like it was a ripper.

And they planned that.

Basically stockpiled later picks and traded up with Brisbane(because they needed points)

And they shipped quality experience still at its peak for top picks as well.

You wouldn’t have let Dan Rioli go for a first in a dud draft. But it was an excellent draft and the suns didn’t need draft picks.

That is good strategy by Richmond.

You’re forgetting #1 pick Rayner.

In any case by the time Neale was recruited in 2019 they already had the bones of their current team. Andrews, Bailey, Rayner, Cameron, McCluggage and undoubtedly others. Neale was the icing on the cake, not the start.

You are right that we need the same level of creative trading to get us out where we currently are.

Brisbane certainly did. So did Adelaide, Hawthorn and Fremantle.

Then if Richmond are planning the same. Watch them go hard for a gun engine room mid with 3 firsts ala Brisbane.

Adeliade have traded…pretty, pretty well…
Dawson, Rankine, Peatling, Cumming, Neale-Bullen. Hinge and Keays have been pretty handy delisted pick-ups, too.

Ohh, there is a President’s letter to members…

Basically a letter saying “oi, no more death threats to senior coach”

They have, but they’re not unrelated. Without being ■■■■ in 2022, the Rankine trade probably would have also cost them the pick they used to get Daniel Curtin in 2023. Drop their 2021 2nd and 3rd rounder back half a dozen spots and the trade that got them Dawson wouldn’t include the pick coming back that they used to get Jake Soligo. The trades still happen, but the overall depth of talent is reduced.

Fair enough, but it really does show that having the resources is one thing.
Using them effectively is another.

Seems like a reasonable bar.

No coach sackings Dees, the deathride can’t handle a new coach bounce late in the season.

Chris Sullivan didn’t he kick 7. I have the VHS coverage. It was ANZAC Day 1992 - Wanganeen kicked the goal that put us in front.

Melbourne’s loss yesterday had the stench of our second Collingwood game in 2022. We did everything wrong to lose the game. Collingwood comeback, Jones missed the goal, Brayden Ham got caught in no man’s land and Elliott took the mark and kicked the sealer. Debacle.

Would not be an Essendon fan; that much I can say for sure!

The Crows have benefited massively due to the go home factor with most of those players recruited being from Adelaide originally.
As a rule anyone drafted from SA will at some stage get a phone call from the Crows or Power. With Port being ■■■■ and the Crows on the rise it will be interesting to see who chooses which club now

Yep Saints supporters are p*ssed.

That’s a shame.

Death Ride, baby!

If you’re ■■■■■■ after a win like that, even given potential draft impacts, probably best to stop following the sport.

That was an outstanding win by St.Kilda. They should be thrilled. Don’t see wins like that often.
