Member Forum / Strategic Plan

The club promised at the 2014 annual Meeting a ‘Members Forum’ for our clubs fans to engage with club stakeholders around the issues surrounding the club. As yet we haven’t had any follow up this.

Secondly, the club communicated it would announce its strategic plan in July /August. As yet no news on this.

This leads me to wonder whether the WADA investigation continues to paralyse the executive team of the club and the clubs ability to engage with its fans and move on commercially is being hampered?

With just 23,705 at last nights game, by far our worst crowd at the venue, no pre game theatre (previous night matches stadium lights turned off / smoke entry etc). What is the clubs update on these important matters?

At last the EFC Brains Trust has got something right.

Even if they can’t spell “ahead”.

I thought our constitution said:

In case of a prolonged period of mediocrity, replace board members with super intelligent cyborgs. Or, if cyborgs aren’t invented yet, use people from Bomberblitz.

Members’ Froum Email = More pathetic PR from Little Pauly via Lukin’s lies

here's an idea for whoever is listening, handing out sashes after the game is stingy and has been a complete flop. Kids want signed footballs....that's it.....at opposition games they swarm the boundary line with minutes to go in hope that a player will hand them I sighned footy......they sometimes stand 5 or 6 deep and go nuts for it, some don't even care about the score they just want a signed footy.

Please get rid of the cheap ■■■ sashes and get back to what the kids genuinely want,…no Farkin hats either.

The sashes are obviously due to the “Don the Sash” theme. Also from what I see at the games the kids hang out for these.

Do you what will get the kids excited about Essendon games?

4 premiership points.

Is this what you’re talking about? eMail received from the Club yesterday reads:

Dear Percy,

Essendon Football Club will hold a Member Forum to provide an opportunity for members to help shape the future direction of the Club.

The forum, to be held at Etihad Stadium in October, will also be an opportunity for members to meet the new senior coach, for the Club’s leaders to provide an overview of the Club’s new strategic vision, review the 2015 season and discuss other relevant matters.

Chairman, Paul Little, is encouraging members to attend and be a part of the conversation.

“It’s vital we continue to listen and connect with our members – we value their feedback and this is a great opportunity for open and transparent dialogue,” Little said.

“Our members have been incredibly loyal and passionate through an extremely challenging period and we are truly grateful for their ongoing support, and the forum will provide us with a valuable opportunity to listen and discuss ways we can improve our football club together.”

In addition to a review of team performance in 2015, the Club’s leaders will outline future planning for the football program, list management, as well as an update on the current WADA appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

“I have no doubt we are all united in the view that we want a strong and successful EFC both on and off the field,” Little said.

“Our vision is to be the most respected, inclusive and successful football club in Australia and we recognise we have a lot of hard work a head of us.”

The Essendon Football Club Member Forum will be held on 29 October 2015 at Etihad Stadium at 7pm. For those unable to attend, the Forum will be streamed live via the Club website.

The Member Forum is a member only event – please register your attendance here.

More of the Little man’s shenanigans ? What some of us want is a spill of the entire Board NOW, not a talk shop carefully stage-managed by Little Paul and his hand-picked stooges.

Wasn’t in there for the bounce but thats interesting? Wonder why… All round as mentioned on here all morning was a shambles of an atmosphere and crowd last night.

Re the member forum I think there was mention to it out of the club last week or the week before, didn’t give a date.

Add the AFL CEO at Hirds Press conference…
Thought it was weird. Why was he there?

pregame entertainment is wank, quarter time entertainment is wank, half time entertainment is wank, 3 quarter time entertainment is wank. Could not give stuff about smoke, lights off air raid sirens or players names being read out. If i want arbitrary bullshit entertainment I’d follow a seppo sport.

Why was Candy wearing the clash jumper? Really put a dampener on things. Missed the pre game lights out. Usually I hate pre game ■■■■, but having the inside of the dome glowing red is pretty cool.

I assumed by CEO he meant Xavier

It's been the one decent attempt at manufacturing an atmosphere we've ever attempted, looks brilliant.

loved that there was no fkg music at half time and quarter time apart from the occasional ad… could actually hold a conversation and not have to fkg yell

The point is, despite all that is plaguing the club it needs to continue to progress on. Last nights scene was quite sad, never seen so many banks of empty seats. There was absolutely no pre game promotion, no pre game effort. Just appeared to me the club decided to give last night a miss… No matter what’s plaguing the club, it can’t just stand still.

The member forum and announcement of its strategic plan are not just key planks of its next phase and fan engagement but an important symbol if it’s intent to move on.

Agree.

All I hear in this situation is, SHUT UP AND BE ■■■■■■■ ENTERTAINED YOU MORONS. It’s the least football thing about football these days - probably a reflection on culture in general though.

■■■■■■■ hate the AFL. ■■■■■■■ hate them.

I was actually going to post that Candy wearing it is the only time I’ve liked the look of that jumper - she fills it quite well.

On Friday night the AFL’s marquee fixture only 26,000 attended a game with the leagues best team. A team who claims to have 80,000 members.
We had nearly 24,000 at a game where our season is over and the opposition had maybe 1000 supporters there.
They still had the pre-game they just didnt turn the lights out.
Any chance we supporters can stop smashing the club for every little ■■■■■■ detail.

Smashing the club? So we just become sycophants? Accept things the way they are? No thanks. We have to demand more or we will come up short.

Again, the club has put these two items on the agenda this year. The club committed to timelines. They are important and positive initiatives. It’s only reasonable to get an update on progress…

I had higher expectations when I clicked on the thread title
