Membership 2018 - we got to 79,318

Give me a break Barnz.

I was a VFL member at Waverley from day 1 way back in the 1970’s and it is hard to just drop it. Back then the VFL was seen to be run by clubs and the " people" though reality is probably different. Anyway Waverley was built to get the monopoly off MCC and it was a good socialist action so I jumped on board.

It was reasonably cheap and gave me access for free to every game at Waverley and the G, and all finals and the GF for no more money. Mrs Fox and I went to every GF from 1978 until the past few years when it is now nearly impossible even for full members to get seats. We are both Gold AFL members with Bomber Club support and High Mark Essendon Members. It is a shiteload of money and I review it every year and I swear and moan, but pay it all. Next year we will try to get reserved seats for all Bomber home and away, and then again consider dropping AFL membership, but after 40 years it is a big decision.

I get your angst against the AFL, but we are not traitors.

I’m an MCC member and we don’t let commoes like @BacchusFox anywhere near the joint.

Damn good decision, what?

Not a commie any more AN, a socialist. We smile when we shoot tories, commos are far more serious.

Who said there is no classism in footy ?

Don’t shoot man, I’m a MCC member & a Tory

I’m even handed…I’d maltreat tories and commoes and diehard socialists.

I don’t really get the angst of missing out when your team isn’t even playing. I’d rather Pies and Eagles supporters get the privilege. Unless of course you were just going to scalp them like my work mates were going to who also missed out. In that case I get your angst. I just don’t have any sympathy.

How about because you shell out countless dollars each year for the supposed privilege to get to go to the GF should you choose…
I joined AFL members for that one reason 11 years ago and did my time to become a gold member. The AFL have however in recent years just let the floodgates open on members. You’re entitled to your opinion but it’s a fair point

I’ve never been an AFL member so I’m unsure of this, but has having membership ever been an iron clad guarantee of a ticket?

out with the lapel pins and in with the milestone patches

Essendon will continue to recognise and celebrate its members’ loyalty and commitment to the club with new milestone patches to be introduced in 2019.

In the past, members who reached a milestone year (be it 5, 10, 15 or even 85) received a lapel pin to commemorate the milestone.

But in 2019 the pin is set to be replaced with the exciting new milestone patches.

You told us that you want to proudly display your years of membership, and now you can do it in a brand new way.

The club recommends wearing it with honour on your new members scarf, but it can still be sewn or ironed onto a number of items.

And don’t worry, all adult and concession members will still receive their 2019 lapel pin.

The patches will be sent to members who reach a milestone year in 2019 before the start of the season.

The inclusion of milestone patches is our fifth membership improvement ahead of the 2019 season, following on from:

We’re committed to doing more to recognise our members, and you can CLICK HERE to learn more about our recognition initiatives.

I like the pins :frowning:

That’s the regular yearly pin, not the milestone ones?

Yes - isn’t that what you mean?

nope, I meant the milestone ones.

do we get strawberries with that?

The Hawks have membership year recognition on their scarfs & I must say it’s just laughable how many middle aged men have been members for all of 3 or 4 years

What a brave commitment during those dark times.

I support the membership team trying to think of ways to improve the members experience.

I LOOOVE the acknowledgement of members who have been long-term continuous members. Great strategy.

I don’t mind the patch, but it does have limitations. With the pin you could just pin it to whatever new thing you wanted to wear. The patch will kinda be stuck with whatever you first put it on.

Every year in the survey, the same answer…

I don’t care about your air raid siren. I don’t care about banners and sings. I don’t care about your pre game entertainment or kiss cam.

You want to engage me, win the ■■■■■■■ game!.

I agree with everything you said here except Kiss Cam.

Though they should speed it up. If they aren’t going to kiss, move on then come back to them.
