Mid Season Draft 2025

I don’t think so

Bulked up a bit but I don’t think he is up to AFL standard.

I agree. I don’t think he’s any good. I’m far from convinced we should be picking him. He’s another C+ plodder who will kick a goal or two every 2-3 weeks.

Had a look at the contract status of our list.
Now I’ve regained consciousness, I really think we need to utilise as many picks as possible. We could easily have 11 places available at seasons end and still have, at least, 5 - 6 list cloggers on (unbelievably) longer term deals.
We need to look at as many kids as possible hoping that, at least, 3 will be upgrades on the above 11.

Given we have 2 x small forwards coming in at draft time, I can’t see us picking him. But would be 6 month contract. Maybe he would flourish in AFL environment. He was better than Jayden Davey and Tex Wanganeen, but they were delisted.

Hes a small forward/mid - nuggety in the mould of Chapman/Snelling/Ned Cahill

So your response to us having 5-6 list cloggers is to get some more ? I don’t see us taking more than 2 players at the MSD and even then only if we believe they should be at the club next year.

Damn it, missed the Get Smart jokes

These guys are only on contracts until the end of the season, so nothing to lose, everything to gain.
Why would you only take 2 and carry 2 or 3 list vacancies for the remainder of the season?
The worst thing that can happen is you take 4 or 5 kids have a look at them and move them on at seasons end if they don’t stand up.

Blitz needs to fund this for club so rosa and vozzo keep MSD plans secret

Not all are on six month contracts some nominate 18 months and also could be salary cap issues

I don’t think you believe that do you?

I understand that, but, most are not, although even taking an 18 monther would not damage our list.
I have faith in Rosa picking the eyes out of those available and getting 3 - 4 potentially with AFL prospects.
I have zero faith in our coaches developing them to be AFL players.

It’s very unlikely but it’s still a possibility

I think it’s more down to talent, we probably take 2 picks unless someone still on the board we really want. Or someone give an opportunity to internally - like Nyko, Smartt, Foley or O’Neil

Yeah and that is normally the case with the mid season draft, I like nyko but really like foley he has the attributes to be a good footballer

Then we really are a pedestrian club, with no imagination or willingness to try new things to change the way we are.

Not even close.

People seem to think that our VFL - which has traditionally been an awful program - is the only place we can pick from.

Smartt is not the answer.
