So some teenager cuts a whole in the fence at Avalon airport and boards a packed a320 with a shotgun?

Someone is getting sacked over this.

Waiting for someone to post on this. How good is Barry from seat 1C! What a legend, free Qantas flights for life.

Just to add, he goes on radio and just tells his story, didn’t wait for a million dollars from 60 minutes. Legend.

It’s always an interesting one airport security. I dont get why in some regional airports they don’t even wand you or your baggage

I’ve taken a few flights from mount Gambier to Melbourne over the past couple of months and you just walk right on the plane, no security, no questions asked. Also, the cockpit is open for minutes at a time while the flight attendants talk to the pilots.

It’s all very laid back for a plane that’s flying to an international airport.

From the Preliminary findings of the recent disaster in Washington

The NTSB report highlights that warning signs of a potential disaster had been present for years. Investigators uncovered 15,214 “near-miss events” at DCA between 2021 and 2024, where aircraft came within one nautical mile of colliding and were separated by less than 400 feet vertically. Additionally, there were 85 cases where two aircraft were less than 1,500 feet apart horizontally and 200 feet apart vertically —distances alarmingly similar to those of the fatal collision.

And this was before the Muskrat did his hatchet job on those protecting the skies

it seems to me that there are more incidents in the US this year, than in previous years. Early days still, but things are not trending well.

That’s going to screw a lot of travel plans.

Qantas diverting their flights to CDG and bussing passengers to London.
The main standby airports in the area are CDG, FRA, AMS and BRU so they will be getting a workout. Gatwick, Luton and Manchester will pick up a bit of slack too but flights not departed yet will probably be canceled and I’ve seen a heap that have left shortly after it closed all were turned around
