Missing/crashed planes, and other aviation mis/adventures

Wasn’t there a few incidents a couple of years ago with passenger flights hitting very bad turbulence over WA and a military base somewhere over there was mentioned but all gone quiet now?

Ground vehicle hit a plane in Milan, watching the footage you have to wonder how the guy driving the car didn’t see the plane.. I presume they were on their phone.

Ooh, a flight I’ll be on soon. Bit heavy mayhaps.

I’ll be on that flight too in early October. I’ll be looking to find out what went wrong this time. The plane subsequently dumped fuel and re-landed at Munich. I’ve flown with Vietnam Airlines a lot, in part because they’ve had an excellent safety record and the planes that fly the routes to Europe are all current-generation 787s and A350s, but I may have to reassess.

There’s not a heap of options here, domestically.
I rate Vietjet for value/convenience, but the better pilots and planes go to VietnamAirlines.

Internationally, I prefer Turkish Airlines, Emirates, Etihad who all offer better pricing.

Most airlines have incidents from time to time. Vietnam airlines are a good airline with a good safety record and this incident would have absolutely zero influence on me flying with them again

Staying a few nights in Cascais early May next year. Understand it’s expensive, but does anyone have recommendations regarding local sightseeing, restaurants etc.?

Thanks in advance.

We mostly talk about plane crashes, here. You’ll want the Travel Thread.

Cascais Is a lovely place. Nice beaches, great old buildings and good food, and it is expensive for Portugal, but still reasonable hotels and restaurants if you look.

Short train trip from Lisbon and we stayed at a cheaper place called Eurostars, which was a short walk to Boca do Inferno. Our room had sea views and was simple and pleasant. A bit more touristy than other Portuguese spots, and busier being close to Lisbon.

We prefer along the coast further towards Spain to the east of Faro.
