Not missing (or crashed) but an interesting milestone
Todayās version of itāll buff outā¦

No crashes but a few teary eyes on base today as the last two P-3 Orions in service had their last ever flights. The whole base went and watched them fly and formation and a water cannon salute on landing. They were then given a guard of honour back to their hangar. Felt very privileged to be in attendance
Very very happy that this wasnāt a crashed/misadventure entry to this thread!
Whatās replaced them?
The bulk of the Orionās were replaced from 2016 by the Boeing P-8A Poseidonās which are also housed at Edinburgh. The last two Orionās have been doing some modified surveillance work but will now be replaced by 4 new MC-55A Peregrineās which will be housed also at Edinburgh in the area currently under construction
I will post a vid of this flight in a min but I donāt think watching it take off will ever not be sketchy as all hell.
Finnair landing at Manchester epic piloting.

I reckon my flight into Launceston last January would have looked like that lol. Plus sleet rain.
surely thats a go around? wing nearly clips the tarmac
The thing which impresses me most about those landings is they are 0% fluke. Itās 100% controlled and would be made 9999 times out of 10000 attempts.
Which when you look at how insane it is just reflects the level of skill these pilots have.
The wing looks a bit away from the ground. I think by that point with one wheel down and the next one a millisecond after, it was probably safer to stick it.
Safer to stick the landing. Good job by the pilot and they have probably made 100ās of similar landings in their careers
Iāve just discovered this YouTube channel - fab
That got full on at the end.
