Walker was always going to get off for the spoil on Westhoff. It was an attempt to spoil ( making Westhoff earn it ) and I was surprised it got a 50 metre penalty.

50 every day of the week. You can't just wipe a bloke out under the guise of going for the ball

I don't get the rationale behind the Walker decision. I don't think he should have gone for the Westhoff thing but I don't get the reasoning. Bowden said because he spoiled he would always get off as opposed to another bloke a year or two who honestly intended to spoil, failed, and got rubbed out. That's ridiculous if you ask me.

A 50 metre penalty is paid for late contact. If it was late contact Walker should have been suspended. The umpire made a mistake.

Because you always have more latitude in a marking contest. Follow your logic and there would be no high marks because players are kneeing guys to the head and body ( possibly causing injury ) in the quest to take a mark.

Wellingham got off. FFS

Today‘s useful fact: an open hand strike to the chest can kill someone.

Fyfe not playing against us is massive! Hes a match winner. Much more confident about our chances.

Was Jordan Lewis going down like a sack of spuds even looked at?!?!

Fyfe out and Z Dawson back in... both good results for EFC!

Love how the hit on Pendlebury is “reckless”. But I guess if they called it “deliberate” as per any normal person’s definition, the system would return the “wrong” answer.

Was Jordan Lewis going down like a sack of spuds even looked at?!?!

Yes not staging because he was struck in the chest. Had her have gone down holding his face he would have got pinged.
Senior players love playing for a free when the tide is against them. Steve Johnson does it all the time if the cats need a goal. Petrie did it last week, sucked in Ryder and drew a 50

P.S. There were quite a few Essendon players who got sniped way off play (or, in the case of Lewis on Hocking, very near play — though in fairness I imagine Hocking also “aggravated" him at some point before or after then!)
