Needed a refresh from guitar, blues and grateful dead. Not really sure what I want to do with this hobby but been having fun and mucking around at home with a dj controller for the past year.
Anyways been playing around with the original and this funky town remix; sequencing, cueing and looping how I wanna hear it. Fun lil project.
Also bit inspired with the second song. I have been playing around to remake it with an acapella and a different backing.
I have been puddling around with a program called lalal.ai to break songs into vocals, drums and instruments. Works quite well (particularly for lifting vocals from the backing track).
I’ve got a few live tapes which have been recorded straight from the mixing desk, so everything is completely unbalanced against each other. I’ve been able to remix the recordings and get them far better sounding.

anybody into Chris Wilson, the aussies blues dude? I moved into my new house in Geelong today and found boxes of about 2,000 Chris Wilson CDs under the house.
I couldn’t possibly take 2,000.
But thank you for sharing that bit of weirdness…
Are they all the same CD or is there a mixture?
same CD all wrapped, must have been a band member or producer. I don’t think they belonged to Chris, thought he lived up the bush somewhere. I mixed his band a few times years ago and had a chat to him, got along really well despite others telling me he was a cantankerous old alco.
I was mixing a mate’s Sunday arvo acoustic gig at The Punters Club. He had a harmonica player with him who was… well, under-rehearsed.
Chris Wilson was propping up an end of the bar and muttered to the bartender that “the harmonica player is killing (my mate)'s songs… do you think he’d mind if I got up and had a play?”
Next thing Chris Wilson is up on stage. He had one harp with him, asks my mate what key the song was in and away they go… my mate and Chris Wilson, playing to 4 men and a dog.
It sounded fantastic (my mate had to keep running with songs in the right key to suit the harmonica). it just so happened I had my Portastudio with me that day plugged into the mixing desk, so we’ve got it all on tape for posterity’s sake.
You had to feel for my mate’s mate though… getting comprehensively blown off stage by Chris Wilson…
Wimmera rock royalty.
lol!
Young Wim!
Behind sad girl!
That’s not why…I’m just digging awesome Wimmera band.
sigh The guitarist led a punk rockabilly band with a double-bass five…maybe seven years before Living End.
That’s gotta suck.
Do you mean to say that’s you (more precisely, young you) around the 3 minute mark?
Good lookin’ rooster, right?
Was trying to work out if it was you on bass, or merely the cameo.
Loooool.
Love the bassist, but I never rocked the bogan look that hard.
Iva Davies circa Crazy for me.
Edit: did borrow his bass once, though. Because I broke a string and didn’t have any spare.
