Have to admit I knew nothing of Elliot Smith until one of my fav musicians, Brad Mehldau, released these preview songs from his upcoming release “Ride into the Sun”, dedicated to the former. Lots of substance abuse and a violent end, fortunately Mehldau has shaken his “bad habits”. I’ve included a older clip of Mehldau accompanying Smith. Looking forward to the release, sounds a bit like the classic Largo release in places.

Smith was a big deal in indie rock and pop circles around the late 90s. I quite liked his albums and remember a lot of sadness across the scene when he died.
