Music You've Been Listening To

Just another great track from my new favourite band.
It is so freaking weird that I have one, and that they’re current rather than a legacy act. Makes me very happy. I hope they tour one day.

Newie. This might be too cool for me. Just listened to the album which is pretty damn good in the right setting.
Get ya turtle neck on, dim the lights, a deep, button-tufted embrace of a vintage Chesterfield, the sharp bite of rye and bitters in a heavy crystal glass manhattan, and the rich jazz and throwbacks of soul worldly music.

You’re gonna hate it.

I see Newscorpse have picked a fight with TISM, trying to pin them as anti-Semetic. They’ve outed one of them - named him and identified him as a teacher at an inner city private girls school. Clearly they’re lobbying hard for him to lose his job.

Anti-semetic? Hardly… Anti-dikkheads of all descriptions more like…

Music for uni students really (yes, I do own a couple of their early albums and did enjoy them when I was at uni).

Anyway, their identities have been a pretty open secret for years… since the advent of the internet really. It was fairly well-known that one of them was a teacher out my way, and that another is related to the brothers in Jet… Other than Damian Cowell though, they’ve never really outed themselves. I’m sure that will come if this witch-hunt continues…

Fark Newcorpse… some nice free publicity for TISM’s upcoming tour I guess…

Haha, probably “journos” who weren’t born yet when TISM were in their prime.

Edit, snippet from article:

“A teacher at an all-girls’ Melbourne school has been revealed as a member of a rock band performing under the name “Ron Hitler-Barassi” with the group’s repertoire including a song about Nazism.”

Lol, welcome to 1986.

Bit repetitive but it’s a good modern folky soft rock album. Kurt Vile was my jam 10 yrs ago.

I dunno much kurt vile, but he contributed to a banger Endless Boogie track a few years back.

Was just about to @ ya @Doggatron .. I can’t say much beyond 2013 but I liked smoke ring for my halo and waking on a pretty daze.

Anyway, came across this album recently, finally played it. Snuggie Otis just goes higher and higher into my favourite guitarists, doesn’t disappoint.

I went through Bohannons collection recently cos one of my favs is “take the country to New York”. All albums are structured the same bangers to start and slows right down.
But some funky dance numbers just put me in the right trance.

I been following some funk record dudes on instagram and man your would never get a copy in Aus and seldom on streaming. This year my listening has been the year of funk!

Edit - that’s a bad version, find it ya selves

Nah, not one of Cheap Rick’s finer moments for mine.
The 80’s were not kind to Cheap Trick, by and large…
