I hadnât thought about that tune or band in years and suddenly remembered it. Used to have the record, I think I need to buy it again.
Todayâs listening⌠their absolute peak.
I spent time when they recorded & played as a duo wondering how good theyâd sound with a full rhythm section. They eventually did just that and yet somehow never bettered these earlier records. It really just managed to smooth out a lot of their endearing quirks unfortunately.
Been a while since I listened to Spotify⌠I see they now may a mix feature.
Anyone come across any good playlists utilising the feature?

Speaking of Huxton Creepers, I noticed theyâve been gigging again recently. My very first concert was an afternoon gig at Festival Hall in 1985. It was them, Weddings Parties Anything (whoâd just released Away Away) and Hoodoo Gurus, playing to a hall full of schoolkids (tickets were given away through schools).
Any idea why Paul Thomas isnât playing with them now?
They were one of the first few bands I ever saw in a Melbourne pub. They have some new songs, I think an album may be coming, but I doubt theyâll be doing many shows.
Dunno why PTâs not doing it, but the replacement guy from the Stems (name?) fkn nailed it all. I wasnât expecting them to sound as good as they did.

addendum: I attended a funeral recently where this song (the original) played over the PA as the coffin was leaving the building, which is usually quite the sombre moment.
It was the deceasedâs choice and it seemed like the whole congregation joined in on the infamous rejoinder with gusto.
