I’d completely forgotten about the whole NBA team coming to Australia to play in Melbourne against nbl teams thing. I thought it must have been abandoned. I hadn’t heard a thing. Turns out it’s happening and both games sold out. Oh well. Not sure that the New Orleans Pelicans were worth the hype anyway

The NBA should say, “let’s stop ■■■■■■■ around, this is what we want”.

Team USA:

PG: Curry

SG: Harden

SF: LeBron

PF: KD

C: AD

Team World

PG: Luka

SG: SGA

SF: Giannis

PF: Embiid

C: Jokic

Pad out the rosters from there but you put that talent on the court, it will rate.

What a time to be a clippers and Essendon fan.

I saw the initial interview last night as going to bed and thought, hmm, tomorrow will be interesting.

looks cooked but might not actually be.

Thankfully will be an innocent until proven guilty thing, unlike the good old Saga…

It’ll be great for one year, maybe two, then boring as bat ■■■■ because players don’t value it and they won’t go all out because team success is more important than some bullshit one weekend game that no one is going to care about in the end. The In-Season Tournament will have similar problems eventually. It’s a side show to the important stuff.

In this USA v World game, all you need are two from team world to not be able to play (for whatever reason) and the game is just as bad and one sided as any other all star game. There’s way more depth in the USA team than the World team.

I have no problems them doing this. Maybe do it every two to three years to keep it fresh and a bit more competitive than an all star game. The rest of the time keep it to what it actually is and has been since all star games began. An exhibition game that very few people will even bother to remember or refer to it.

I’d love to see a 3-on-3 or 2-on-2 tournament every here and there. The players could come from the same team, or from the same division or just be mixed as they wish. It’d bring a lot of the bullshit discussion to it (who is better between x and y) but I think it’d do well until it gets boring and the format has to change again.

I had to google the 613 Knicks jersey retirement. Red Holzman is a name I have never heard of.
Will have to find a sports doco on that.

Cat B rookie. Good company for the modified group. Obvious flaws in game never worked on. Get him on the phone to Rosa!

The format for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game is likely to be a round-robin tournament consisting of three eight-player teams – two USA teams and one World team – sources told ESPN on Wednesday.

The NBA and the players’ union presented the format to the league’s competition committee on Wednesday, sources said. Governors, team executives and players discussed the format within the competition committee meeting, and the response was positive, sources said.

The two USA teams and one World squad would play each other in 12-minute quarter games, sources said.

Earlier this year, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said “it’s not lost on us” that the 2026 All-Star Game will be played amid the Winter Olympics – as well as at the location for the 2028 Summer Games – and was receptive to the idea of the game having an international twist.

The NBA says about 70% of players in the league are American, meaning it therefore will be easier for international players to make an All-Star roster in a U.S. vs. the world-style competition.

That’s not so bad.
It’ll come down to whether one of the USA teams is stacked or whether it is split evenly.
The world team is pretty much set. And can be diminished by injuries far easier. You lose one starter and you’re down to Markkanen. Whereas on the USA team, you lose one starter and you can still add a franchise leading type player like Cade Cunningham. It makes a big difference.

Giddey re-signing with the Bulls on 4 Years / 100m. Pretty good outcome for both parties I’d have thought and finally some positive sporting related news

Took a while but they’ve landed on a number that appears to be about right. He wanted $30M a year, they wanted $20M a year, met in the middle, deal done.

It’s funny, am I hating being a bomber or clippers fans more atm? It’s close. Both are all over the media and not for good reasons.

I still think Silver coming out saying he needs legit proof or won’t penalise is a positive, as there’s heaps of circumstantial stuff out there that can be explained to make it the smoking gun and explained to be nothing, depending on how you spin it.

Cigarettes don’t cause cancer, it’s just circumstantial.

I can’t see how they can spin the 1% owner of the Clippers giving a the company 2mill as it was going under and then the company giving Kawhi 1.75 the next day as anything other than what it appears to be.

Was 9 days later, but who’s counting days right.

Also don’t have any evidence of the redacted money in or out from and to on that spreadsheet.

Looks bad, but it’s a partial grab of one of several sides to this story.

I’ll wait until a full investigation is done before jumping the gun, but that’s me personally.

Am very interested to see what Uncle Dennis involvement is and what Kawhi has to say too. If that’ll ever come out.

Yeah it stinks to high heaven. All I’ll say is I wish I was in a position to be able to get $7M for a “no show” endorsement deal. $7M a year to do absolutely nothing.

You need an Uncle named Dennis for that.
