Next Generation Academies

All good mate just thought you might have been there to give us a report.

Good to see huss with 3 again, he would almost be leading the league goal kicking. I also see online another of our nga’s Blake Justice debuted and kicked 2. A taller guy who’s mum is Asian background, never seen him play before.

I’m just imagining the feeling on here if the AFL hadn’t changed the rules last year…

Long way to go of course

3 goals 5, he’s already showing Essendon AFL traits

Justice is 190cm seems thin-ish but he is one for next year.

@noobermensch will have some idea where and how he played when he inevitable does the Huss and Sweid videos

Watched the game online, plenty of further great signs. Tricky conditions with the wind blowing a gale. Justice looks more than handy. Missed a set shot to level the score from about 45…hit the post but gave it a great ride. Kicked 2 really nice goals and looks like a player, great size. Huss and Sweid did their thing. Huss was clean with great energy. Sweid is a special talent and sets up so much play from the midfield. Plays more like a Rankine and ran his guts out. He was on the bench at the final siren and was the first to sprint on and console Justice…team first mentality was pretty awesome to see.

How are our academy prospects looking compared to other clubs?

Is ours likely to bear fruit? More than other clubs?

The demographic of our zone has much middle eastern influence. I heard a poster mention that those lads are pretty physical, even to a point that other clubs didn’t want to play them.

If we’re gonna land these types of lads that also know how to kick a footy, I’m in.

He could look at history and whether anyone has ever brought in that many points, either in future picks traded or picks pushed back (or both). It would be interesting if it’s ever been done. He could assess what picks we need to get the points in the hypothetical/example and discuss how realistic it is to trade for based on assumed ladder positions. He could think of another option.

Instead he just insulted me.

The point of my comments were that Blitzers are/were getting excited that we have a large pool of father-son and BGA candidates for 2027, two of whom Blitz are treating as top 3 picks. There is a theme by Blitzers that due to Tassie it is a great year to have them come through. I think this view is based on previous costs. My posts were designed to bring a little realism and point out it will be harder to match in 2027.

I agree we’ll probably get it done if it’s a single very highly rated kid. But if it’s several high and very highly rated kids it will be harder.

Just generally, I feel the comment “it will get done” is a simple expression of faith.could easily break down.

I’ll reserve judgement since we don’t know how many he kicked OOF

I assume your talking about me, unlike you I have a life so can’t be bothered to trawl through years of draft data and seeing who brought in for what and instead went with the line that we shouldn’t worry about it because it’s years away.
Your an extremely strange individual who likes to think he is better than most on here if they don’t agree, along with your undying love for ex list managers and a campaigning to keep on average players when in reality a good chunk of your posts are just not worth reading being on a forum since the dawn of time doesn’t make you some guru.

With the number of 1st rounds picks clubs will have to access by 2027 and with all the opportunities that Tassie bring regarding picks needing to be traded and player movement with reimbursement. It will be complicated but easily doable.

This assumes that we will have multiple top 10 picks, which is imo unlikely. I’m also expecting the AFL to rob the fertile lands of west Coburg and pascoe vale from us, the rich, and give to the poorth as a make up for their persistent refusal to become an expansion club.

I’ve seen more of a Bolton type myself, just with more defensive intent

I’ll take both traits.

I think we should be getting quite excited about Sweid, even just ignoring his high disposal numbers, he is a really clever player with excellent foot skills and decision making. Will be interesting to see how he goes in the u18 state champs against higher quality opposition.

As for El-achker, he would probably be a bit disappointed with his finishing albeit in quite difficult windy condition. Kicked at least 2 out on the full including at a critical time in the last, so had 10 shots on goal in total and was clearly the most dangerous forward. Probably unlikely to play in similar windy conditions in the afl, so I wouldnt be too concerned. He was pretty much unstoppable. I think teams will start to drop better players/double team him, because Calders forward line is basically El Achker or bust

Are the ranking points in the Coates Talent League calculated the same way as they are in the AFL?

Sweid’s ranking points after three rounds:
Rd 1 = 178
Rd 2 - 171
Rd 3 = 131

10 shots on goal is very decent!

Thanks for your comments too, very positive.
