Detroit is a lock for the NFC now. Not only are they good, but also lucky. Not quite Chiefs lucky, but getting there.
But that’s a franchise that is due for some good karma.

Why do they persist with him? Has any kicker lost more games (including a SuperBowl) than him?

Oh man, that was a terrible showing covered up by the winning FG. There are only 2 reasons I can think of.
- He does have a massive leg. We saw how the backups (when Moody was out for a few weeks) struggled to get the ball into the end zone at kick offs which put our special teams in massive strife.
- He is a 3rd round pick so they don’t want to give up so quick (sunk cost and all that not withstanding).
Who the hell uses a 3rd round pick on a kicker?
Buccs used a second rounder on Roberto Aguayo.
He was the most accurate kicker in college history at the time, and flamed out in a season of the pros.
It’s a fool’s errand. If you must draft a kicker, 5th round or later.
Most aren’t drafted at all and are undrafted free agents.
Yes, I know that the Raiders picked Janikowski first round, and he was a good solid kicker most of the time, but surely the draft capital can be used in better ways.

I think the Niners only hope to make the playoffs is to win the division. Rams losing a good start but we will need to win the rest of our division games including beating Arizona in Arizona.
Possible, but we have already lost to a weakened Rams and Arizona with an excellent qb in Kyler. Thought the was going to be a bust but he is an excellent difference maker.
