Just a reminder that you can’t give votes to the same player more than once. If it’s the same player 3 times, the vote would be counted. If twice, the lower vote won’t be counted.

And no half-votes

So after 7 Rounds nineteen players have votes.
That seems a really high number.

Not sure if I should see this as an example of our player depth, and a strength, or if it’s a reflection of serious inconsistency by too many players?

not sure on how the votes were tracking by round 7 last year, but last two awards (final tally) we had 2018: 26 players with votes
2017: 21 players with votes

I think the more who get votes the better as it shows a spread of players doing well enough to attract the expert eye of Blitzers

I just dug out the records for 2017 and 2018. I can confirm in both those seasons after 7 rounds 14 players had received Nobby votes. So @WindsockBoy’s summation that 19 players having polled so far this year is a high number is correct compared to the past two seasons.

Also consider that Hooker, TBC and Ridley are not vote getters the spread of votes is impressive and indicates at least the whole side is offering something sometimes - although I realise the consistency comment is a valid one, and I think our team is still finding its mojo, but overall the components are there.

Bags and Myers haven’t snuck in for any votes, but we know Blitz would prefer Guelfi and Langford playing well in their best 22.

The spread is also an indication that the Nobby is no Midfielders Medal… (is this true?).

What’s also worth looking at is who gets votes when we win and who gets votes when we lose.

I might do a bit of analysis on that.

TIPPA got lots of Crichton votes in the first 8 weeks last year… and upset everyone for doing that.

Let me know if retirement is super boring and you want the past 6 years of Nobby voting history. You might be able to come up with the Noonan/Brownlow theory.

Round 9 vs Fremantle

I’ve had a rethink and decided to do away with countbacks. There’s no need for them in a contest like this, so re-allocating Francis and McGrath’s votes in Round 1 so they get 1.5 each.
