Well, no-one, including me, has been able to come up with a better system of doing the Nobby for this year.

I was trying to eliminate the fact that players who figure prominently in bad losses get equal reward to the greater number of players in prestigious wins.

But…without coming up with some complicated algorithm for doing it, we may as well continue in the status quo.

Why not award 5,4,3,2,1 for winning games and only 3,2,1 for losing games?

I think it’s ultimately much of a muchness anyway. We win, Zach Merrett tends to play really well. We lose, Zach Merrett tends to play really well. Same with Ridley, Parish etc. The guys who are likely to win a vote count are the ones who perform week in, week out.

Not sure that’s quite true.

In most wins, guys like Ridley are ignored because they play to their usual standard.

We often give votes to guys we perceive as having played above expectations.

And I don’t see differentiating between wins and losses purely on the basis of the result. There are bad losses, and there are far more meritorious losses.
