Is this a good time to buy some blue chip tech stocks or tech ETF’s ? Because as sceptical as I am about the inherent dangers of AI and the like , Palantir / Amazon / Nvidia / Tesla etc are unlikely to fully fall off the cliff and all are currently well down on their highs.
I have no idea why the ASX is up nearly 2% this morning. The last month has been as contradictory and unstable as Trump. My retirement plans are farked.
Yes, that’s a reassuring graph. I was about to pull the plug on my day job in Apr to focus on things more enjoyable. But watching my super plummet over March was like watching a case study on sequencing risk play out in real time.
But then Thu, Fri last week it bounced back to regain around 40% of losses. It’s all over the place. Today’s huge spike is just weird. I’ve read a few times that the market hasn’t sufficiently factored in the economic impact of the stupid war, so more drama is possible.
Happy to consider any advice but for now I’ll keep working until mid-May at least and hope for some stability.
With Trump, likely more volatility than stability.
for Aus until we have strait of Hormuz open and reliable supply of oil coming I expect it to be more volatile in May.
What do they say, sell in May and go away.
There is alot of uncertainty with the markets at present, even main stream media are flagging recession as a possibility for a number of countries. Typically, the share market doesn’t perform well during recessions - it certainly doesn’t make retirement decisions easy! Working a little longer probably isn’t the worst idea as each week / month that passes while this war continues only exacerbates things. Thinking in the US also is that Trump will do anything to paint a rosy picture for their economy during mid-terms. After this, there will be no need and we may see significant market movements play out after this.
All designed to assist Trump and his cronies to commit insider trading fraud.
Would I be wrong to think the only reason we haven’t had a big crash is because of how well educated people are today in how the stock market works? And when I say everyone I mean mum, dad and random internet investors. For example even I know you try not to panic sell and if anything, it’s probably a good time to buy when everyone else is selling.
Also the huge amounts locked into super must help keep everything ticking over. Just my uneducated thoughts, happy to be shown I’m wrong.
Gets bandied about the internet as some fantastic deal, until you deep dive and learn about visas, taxes, fixing up, upkeep, need for language ability and community interaction, isolation from major transport, services, and big cities etc.
I have good friends who have set up home in SEAsia.
Two moved to Hua Hin in Thailand, did not know each other but live very close and are now good friends through me. Lovely place, nice weather, lots to do and they tell me that for US$1000 a month you live like a king.
Another moved to Hà Nội in Vietnam many years ago, after John Howard became PM. He has a travel business and Cafe there, and is very happy. Vietnam is a great place to visit.
Another who was my Lawyer, divorced his Wife and moved to the Philippines. Lives near Cebu, have not been there but he says it is inexpensive and nice. But he is a Lawyer and guilds every lily.
Shanghai SIlver price $150 USD
US Silver Price $80 USD
That is a large discrepancy.
Interesting take.
It is used for jewellery, some electronics, Trumps office cornices etc.
As for Bitcoin, it is the biggest con.
