Old people don't understand the Internet

I tracked the domain provider who put me on to Melbourne IT. Then I had an online chat with Xerxes, who passed me to Ashani, who directed me to WebPanel and from there I got into the directory for our emails and was able to change passwords.

I feel like I have done a world trip. I now have my emails back and all the history for the past 20 or so years.

Next is the Tax File, but maybe I am better off without those !

I’ve been a staunch windows user probably anti mac for basically ever. I know they are good but can never justify the price gap even if they have a bit more longevity . my job just had tooany windows specific apps ECT I couldn’t be arsed with emulators ect . but because nearly everything is web based now including my job, I reckon I’ll finally go to the dark side on my next one.

I juat got a new hp for around 1300ish and it’s great . fantastic battery life , display is decent , sound is decent ect not as flash as the high endacbook I know but good enough for now

So I’ve just had to buy a new home PC and after getting it set up, discovered that it doesn’t have Word or Excel on it.

I use both prgrams for really basic stuff…making lists on either program.

When I went to open a spreadsheet and discovered that I didn’t have Excel, the computer pushed me to the following site:

which then led me to:

My question for those with far greater knowledge of this stuff is…should I just sign in and use these options, or go and buy them?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Use an open source one, like Open Office or LibraOffice. I use Libra, opensource and free.

If it’s basic and not sensitive just use the online versions.

I’d love to use Libreoffice, but sadly I’ve found it unstable to the point of uselessness. And when it inevitably crashes, its autosave proves not to work.

Once you have a trial edition of 365, you might bring it to life via a massgrave.

I believe that you have to save your files to OneDrive with these apps. If that is not an issue and your needs are basic, they might be a good solution for you.

If your Word/Excel needs are basic, is Google docs/sheets a free option?

Thanks for all the responses…I just decided to go with what I know and bought the Microsoft Home Option.
