One past player you could have in the 2024 team

He has to be our greatest player to never have won a B&F or All Australian.

Misiti was a f*cking gun……and our no. 1 midfielder in our greatest ever team.

Baker for sure … but think he was an AA.

So, Geoff Blethyn.

I’m going with Dean - at his best was rough, tough and could play!!

Just imagine how offended McGrath would be at the antics of Dean Solomon.

Although he’d be suspended every second week, for head high bumps and knocking out small forwards who duck into tackles.

Yes great shout. Wonderful player who loved a goal on the run from 50 and a super consistent performer

Both him and Hardwick would spend time in the naughty corner as Solly did at Freo!

If you reckon they would spend time in the “naughty corner” WTF would they do with Ron Andrews? Tough as they were, they would quail if they played against Ronnie.

Rotten Ronnie probably mentored Solly who did an eight week stint which I think was the longest handed out at the time!! Ronnie loved a blue.

So I make (at least) these players ineligible:

  • Chaston
  • Molan
  • Nanscawen (at least 6 ways)
  • Ashley-Cooper
  • Frew
  • Stepnell
  • DeMatteeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooo
  • Barba
  • Caruso
  • Bullas
  • Tierney
  • Radford
  • Ford
  • Borg
  • CBomb
  • Ahrens
  • Ponter
  • G Prespakis
  • Anderson

So the really obvious candidates are Ugle, MORCS, Nalder, Quigley, Crook, Macdonald, Dicker, Gardner (‘cause then she’s well again), Marshall, Collier, BClarke, Doonan, Ryan, Sutton, STASSI, Mackrill, Gillard, and PURANTATAMERI.

Screw you guys, I’m not picking.

I’d say Percy Bushby. Brick-hard, tough ruckman and backman. Premierships in 1942 and 1946. Trouble is, he won the b&f in 1944. So if that disqualifies him, I’ll go for Ian Shelton, the tough CHB in our 1962 and 1965 premiership teams

I met him at the Beach Hotel in Jan Juc last summer… In his prime, my fave player… He blushed as red as his hair when I told him…

Alan Ezard… We could really do with a cunning small forward like him…

Ty Zanuck would fit perfectly in the current team.
