The Carlton Football Club can confirm that midfielder Madison Prespakis and forward Georgia Gee have today informed the Club of their decision to explore a move to the Essendon Football Club.

In an exciting step towards its inaugural AFLW season, Essendon is delighted to announce that Carlton AFLW stars Madison Prespakis and Georgia Gee have committed to signing with the Bombers.
The club will now work with Prespakis and Gee along with the AFL and their management to facilitate the request at the appropriate time, noting the AFLW Sign and Trade Period is yet to be confirmed by the AFL.
The Carlton duo are well-established AFLW players who will bring a wealth of experience to the Bombers’ line-up.
Across her 34 games, Prepakis has become known for her tough work throughout the Blues’ midfield, where she averaged 20.4 disposals and kicked 15 goals.
Fresh off claiming Carlton’s AFLW best and fairest, Prespakis joins the Bombers with a stellar resume, including the 2020 AFLW League Best and Fairest winner, 2020 All-Australian team and three club best and fairests.

Alongside Prespakis, Gee has been a key part of the Blues’ line-up across the past five seasons.
Gee makes great impact around the contest, mainly along the wing and forward line, and uses kicking accuracy to set up scoring opportunities for her teammates while also hitting the scoreboard herself.
Essendon general manager of football Josh Mahoney said the pair were fantastic additions to the Bombers’ team.
“We are very excited to welcome Maddy and Georgia to the Bombers,” Mahoney said.
“To attract such high-calibre players to the club is a fantastic reflection on the program we have established throughout the VFLW and the program we continue to build as we head towards our first AFLW season.
“We are setting high expectations for our AFLW team from the beginning and building a program that will give our players an opportunity to be the best they can be. With access to high-class facilities and full-time staff, we are well placed to maximise every player’s career.”

AFLW player contract manager Georgia Harvey said the Bombers were excited by the potential of Prespakis and Gee.
“Maddy, who is a lifelong Bombers supporter, is a young inside midfielder who has already achieved a lot in her short career, but with our support, we are certain she can take her game to the next level, ” Harvey said.
“Like Maddy, Georgia has a lot of potential. She is a versatile player who is a silky ball mover and can also hit the scoreboard.
“We are rapt to have both these players commit to the Essendon Football Club and we look forward to further announcements in the coming weeks.”
Alongside this significant announcement for the Bombers, the club is also proud to continue the Coles partnership, which supports all five Essendon teams and will feature on the AFLW players’ shorts.

I’m sure that this was a misprint and what the article actually meant to say was ‘Essendon VFLW star Madison Prespakis who was unfairly forced to play for FCFC due to the AFLs bullshit decision to knock back Essendon’s first application to join the AFLW competition’
