I think we have the talent in midfield. A few of the chairs need to be shuffled around a bit and I’m hoping a revamped coaching panel does that.

But Bellchambers is not competitive. He is a liability and no coaching or fitness department change will fix that.

its so trash at the moment. Need to continue to build through the draft. Dodo doesn’t seem to like picking mids.

Yeah, or at least have Shiel learn some centre clearance running patterns that don’t put him constantly on his non-preferred so he doesn’t have to run sideways almost to the bench just to squeeze out a kick on his left.

Belly has never been anything more than a average Ruckman. He’s never once been in the top handful in his career

He’s 100% done. His second efforts and pressure are literally not existent. Our #1 priority should be bringing in someone who can at least compete for 2 years.

Our midfield consists of

A lot of guys who are poor kicks

Couple of talented players

A bunch of one way runners

A lot of guys who don’t like the contested stuff

A soft ruck men who is injured most of the time and is a passenger once the ball leaves the area

Number 1 priority: find a ruckman. Number 2: find a big-bodied midfielder. Number 3: find some forwards who know how to make position, take a mark and kick a goal (then repeat, several times per game).

Sam Jacobs 2 year deal as a free agent would be a good start.

Our running patterns are totally ■■■■■■. Cannot get into preferred feet to save ourselves.

I think Jacobs is just about a done deal at GWS unfortunately. Can’t think of too many good ones that are available. In fact there aren’t many genuinely good ones full stop.

Our midfielders would look like twice the player’s they are if they were roving to a Grundy or a Gawn.

  • Teach all of them, and our forwards, how to defend. Drop anyone and everyone that doesn’t, consistantly and regularly.
  • Groom Clarke to play as our number 1 ball winning mid next year, feeding it to our other mids, not as a tagger. It’s worth a try, he’s the most natural midfielder we have.
  • Play Parish in the guts, not on a flank. McGrath too.
  • Build Stringer’s tank for another 10% midfield capacity.
  • Give Merrett and Shiel more time on flanks and wings to start using the ball much better. Remember when everyone was raving about Merrett’s disposal?
  • Draft 2 guys next year who have played their junior careers in the midfield and who can kick.
  • Fix our ruck stocks.

Need to look at bringing in one of Brad Crouch, or Angus Brayshaw, they are gettable.

If we want quality inside 50s, the ability to hit the scoreboard and have elite skills on both side of his body?

Jack Martin.

I would trade Fantasia to Adelaide to get the draft picks for him.

Don’t know if Ed Langdon is gettable but he would help us immensely.

Langdon has his positives. He’s a good size, elite runner and gets plenty of it. Just be aware that he genuinely butchers it.

It would help a lot if we learnt to kick to advantage, especially against a team with so many great intercept markers.

Draper also needs significant game time next year when he recovers. TBell is the past.

He would fit right it.

When belly played his best footy this year we won the clearances.

He is a good ruck when fit but that’s only about 40 percent of the time.

Really hope draper can be the player we need. But he is unproven at afl level. Personnel wise this is by far our biggest problem.

Mcg and parish are going to get stronger and help inside.

Clarke show promise and can shut a player down. He showed enough this year to suggest that he could turn into a real inside bull.

Langford just isn’t an inside mid.

Hep, zerret, smuth, and sheil all very good and very different to each other.

One of stringer or tippa should be always at the centre bounce.

Ham should play on the wing, Irish or ridler on the other.

Our kicking is mainly due to our stupid system fwd of the ball. The mids are in two minds all the time and unsure where to kick it. So they are kicking with no confidence.

Our structure fwd of the ball was that bad this year even zerret looked like a hack.

I am obsolutely convinced once these issues are sorted out our ball use will be at the level needed.
