Except on weekends

I’m glad that nobody has mentioned Heat yet. It seems people still have some sense left in this thread.
I will watch that every time it’s on.
When your film is the best possible execution of its genre. It can’t be overrated.
I’m not sure if Moulin Rouge has been mentioned but it should be.
Baz Luhrmann rivals M Night Shyamalan as the luckiest director of all time. One ok film that made some bank has allowed them to stink up the silver screen for the past two decades.

Baz Luhrmann
It’s his wife who does all the good work, anyway.
His films always look fantastic.
Style over substance.
M night is awesome, baz Luhrmann is absolutely terrible
I really like Star Wars, The Godfather and Citizen Kane, but I don’t get the hype about Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Ferris is a massive jerk who needed to be kicked in the nuts really hard.
M Night can tongue punch my fart box.
Always wanted to use that since you brought it to blitz.
Love Moulin Rouge.
And it paved the way for Chicago (which I do not love).
Edit: Also, it gave us Bowie’s version of Nature Boy.
Edit: Edit: And the shot of the Duke marching down the aisle with the gun is friggin’ epic.
I saw Heat at the movies when I was about 14 and was bored by it. But I definitely want to give it another go…
Have you seen Manhunter, the original Hannibal Lecter film Michael Mann did in the mid-80s? I really like that movie.
He has made some rubbish, but he has also made some absolute gold
I hope he casts Tom hanks in his next movie just to annoy you even further!
I once listened to an interview with the MI-Fallout Writer/Director Christopher McQuarrie…
He said that when he starts filming, he doesn’t have the script completed…that’s kind of the way he works…if anyone asks “Hey Chris, what’s going to happen in this stage of the story?”, he responds with “I don’t know yet. You have to tell me the location first. Then, once we get there, I’ll just have a look around and write some action scenes that make the most of the location’s idiosyncratic features.”
…my response was…WTF kind of screenwriting approach is this?!
And, in the end, I think you can see in the end product…Mission Impossible films are all just a round-the-world journey of ‘cool’ location-defined action scenes that barely hold together as a storyline.
I watched about 15 minutes of Romeo and Juliet once. It was excruciating.
Xavier Campbell strikes me as a huge M Night and Hanks fan.
Academy Award Best Movie Crash
It would be over-rated even if it was merely tolerated.
Thank you.
Heat is one of my top 5 movies, Manhunter is great (Really underrated film), and I also loved Collateral with Tom Cruise. He’s good value Michael Mann.
That’s ice cold man!
Also, is there an underrated movies thread on Blitz?
I watched Thief recently too. Thought it was pretty good.
