Adelaide threw in pick 50 to Geelong. Presumably they want their draft finished inside round 3. Can't really see them going for pick 5 unless they are certain Francis will slide through.
I wouldnt trade 9&13 for 5.
Maybe 3 if they can guarantee francis. And thats their man.
Then gcs could trade 9+19 to saints for 5
Thats prolly best option for saints
Gcs swap 3 for 9+13
Plus they get 10 for dixon and have 19 compo.
Go from 3,10,19,22
To 9,10,13,19,22
To 5, 10, 13, 22
Upgrade 19 to 13 downgrade 3 to 5.
Depends if gold coast want francis or someone else who would be available at 5 for then to do that deal.
Then saints go 9 + 3rd rounder for Carlisle + fourth rounder
Keep 19 for themselves and trade their second round for pies.
At which point I would hope Essendon tell them to go stick their head in a pig.

Yep and youād think we would be letting everyone know that we will go for him at 4. Regardless if true.
Is it just me who wants dangerfield to be as big a bust as Judd was at carlton ?
And iām not sure why, I donāt mind him or Geelong but the process by which heās ended up there just stinks. Maybe itās connors that makes me want it to fail, but thereās just something about it that just doesnāt sit right.
theyād want to hope like hell they have success in the short term, cos theyāve burnt any chance of having it in the medium to long term buying all the players they have.

That, and the fact that Geelong get a top 5 in the competition player for relative peanuts because of the way the system is designed.
When will the clubs just come out and ā ā ā ā ā ā ā call a spade, a spade and say the system is stuffed? In what system is a pimply faced 18 yo #1 pick a better than Dangerfield? The AFLās.
Adelaide should come out and just say āyeah we got some compensation but it was no where near Dangerfieldās fair value, we graciously completed the trade because we really had no other option but weāre filthy for losing a top 5 player in the competition for far less than his actual worthā
Danger is not young and they lost picks and players in the expansion era. Adelaide are still a good side and can throw in some talent and be back up in two years. They should go for the average talia too making sure they donāt have to go chasing talls in the draft.
In fairnessā¦ this is actually one trade where I believe the player did genuinely want to come home for family reasons. Danger was reluctant to go to Adelaide initiallyā¦ spent his first year commuting between Vic and Adelaide whilst completing studies too.
Has always maintained close relationships with family and friends in the Geelong area and always wanted to play for the Cats. Danger was going to be on big coin no matter whereā¦ and he made a choice after giving years of excellent service to his drafting club.
I think this is a better example of a near win/win for two teams that found it more palatable to be fair. Adelaide get some picks and a promising young player and Geelong get a gun with 4-5 years of service. Could become a very good trade for both clubs.

Dangerfield is 25 FFS!
Adelaide got royally screwed - that Gore kid as every chance being a spud and I would offer any odds to whomever thinks that their ND picks will even come close to Dangerfield.
Considering he could have made $500k+/yr more via offers from other clubs but he still chose the Cats regardless then itās clearly for family reasons.
He and his partner get to move back to where they grew up and where their families live now. Heād be about to start having kids with his partner now, having the parentals around for support would have been key.
Has bought a block of land to build on at Moggs creek.

Anyone disputing this is kidding themselves
Still donāt like it - mostly because Adelaide got pathetic compensation. This is a professional sport, multi-million dollar industry - these guys are earning coin only most of us could dream of. Itās not local footy where you can just pack up whereever you want and play.
Adelaide should have been able to flog him off to the highest Vic bidder.

Back to reality thoughā¦
The rules are the rules.
Adelaide could have let him go to Geelong for pick 14 or they send him to the PSD and get nothing.
They havenāt gotten Dangerfieldās value, but they got the best they could.

I know what the rules are - theyāre ā ā ā ā . As has been pointed out by many on here - I, or anyone else donāt have to like them.
