I agree iam all in on vigo becoming the best of the three rucks we have
I disagree with this. I donāt think it is a critical role, as in you can get by with poorer ones. But a good one can elevate a team and make them much more dangerous. See how influential Vossās recent form at Freo has been. Takes pressure off the primary KPFs and better presence when the #2 rucks are competing.
Jackson and Thilthorpe are 2 of the most valuable players in the league let alone their teams.
You would add Darcy to that list.
What ever Freo did last week with spreading their forwards needs to be practiced.
Fiona from Bomber Banter did an interview with 2MP today, worth a watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWIxVU7zAQc
FFS!!! Someone change the thread title.
Jeez Pete is looking in good nick. Itās eye-opening to see how lean the playing group are since last season.
If he has a good season, confident, clunks them and kicks truly, will be like a new recruit. Need this to happen, all gouig well we will have a new mosquito fleet crumbing and feasting on front and centre. Hereās hoping
How many is enough for Pete this year? 40-50 would be great, especially with him relief rucking. If he plays every game, averaging his 1.5 goals a game, thatās 34.5 goals. If he can get closer to 2022 levels, puts it around 55. Thoughts?
Anything close to 50 goals would put him in the top 10 in the league. Considering our forward entries have been not the best in the league I think 35-40 would be a good year for him.
If heās used as a genuine second ruck/forward, Iād take 20-25 goals. The onus falls on Caddy, Langford etc. to kick more goals.
If heās just a chop out every now and then ruck, probably needs to be around 40.
I confess to chuckling a little when in that video at the club with Dylan Buckley and a couple of our players (Caddy, Kako, Martin etc) they said Peter is the strongest guy at the club and lifts the most⦠if only that translated through to marking contests on field.
It comes down to what heās lifting I guess. Iāve seen clips of him running solid deadlifts and squats which wouldnāt really help too much in a marking contest but in reality, dropping marks is more a confidence thing than anything.
I would have thought that strengthening the legs has benefits for holding position in marking contests.
I think heās working on his eyelid strength by tying tiny weights to his eyelashes.

Wright was good last year. If not for his uncharacteristically poor set shot kicking heād have ended up with 40 goals while doing a solid job as ruck relief. His sheer size and presence will benefit Caddy and Langford, heās a good pro, a hard worker and his ability to chop out in the ruck (where he uses the ball surprisingly well around the ground) is valuable.
I hope heās in a good headspace and can get his confidence up early, because heās an important player who is absolutely capable of producing good footy. Get around him.
The running commentary in here is that Pete gets to the right spot, then lets the ball slap his handsā¦
Posterior chain and leg work will 100% improve all aspects of forward craft. Sorry I was being facetious.
Also just slightly bringing his hands in when they make contact to absorb helps
