Clothier and Conlon to be the rookies
Clothier will not be rookied. We could have put him on the rookie b list a couple if weeks ago. We didn't. We don't want him.
Oh, because of the Academy? Didn't realise. Thanks HM.
It was an error of judgement anyway. Rookie = TIPPA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pick 26: Darcy Lang (Hoping for Dumont/Dunston)
Pick 55: Toby Nankervis
Upgrade Dalgleish.
P.S I put up the last bit so I am guarenteed to get one right.
26. Barracked for Richmond as a kid, is good
55. Barracked for us as a kid, good athlete, not so good footballer, great kid, great leadership skills.
26: Lad from good family
55: Pass (because they're all rooted from 30 onwards)
The best 18 year old who is proven at state league level against men ,not skinny Weady 65 kg kids,it a no brainier.we need a few that can make an instant impact, because apparently we have heaps in the twos that are going to be stars in time.
Going on past Essendon picks:
26. Travis Colyer
55. Michael Still
26 Dumont
55 Garlett
66 Dalgleish (Upgrade)
We most likely will Rookie a Ruck backup if we dont get apeness at 26
Blitz goes Apeness.
Apeness and conlon
Apeness and Cavarra
Apeness
Garlett

Partial list of recent EFC draftees who were not proven at state level against men:
Heppell
Daniher
Hurley
Carlisle
Zaharakis
It's nice, but it's not the be-all and end-all of drafting ffs. Even of drafting guys who can make an impact in their first year.

3 were top 10 (Daniher obviously would have been 1). Carlisle was 24 and Zaharakis 20-ish??? Bit different to 55.
EDIT: SV was probably talking about 26. Then again, if it is a weaker draft then maybe his point still stands. Carlisles draft appears to have been a fairly decent one.
