Political Correctness

As chest-feeding is simply one iteration of a theme that is damaging to society, what other words have been commonly accepted to our detriment?

I still don’t think you’re giving enough credit to the other side’s concerns but that’s ok. We share a fair bit of common ground and this chat has been sensible and worthwhile.

I think what needs to happen is that both sides need to have a sit down and exchange ideas and express their concerns about where things are and where they’re headed in a mature and faithful manner. Wont happen.

Tbh I am downplaying them, because I think their concerns are a massive over reaction.

But to be fair, I’m probably quite jaded, having worked in public service and seeing what an actual decaying society looks like, chest feeding didn’t move the needle.

Seeing a mother prostituting their 6 year old to feed a meth habit makes me more concerned for society than what ever some one thinks breast feeding should be called.

Excellent post. Society’s concerns are too focused on what they see on tv (changing the name of cheese vs ‘chestfeeding’).

I just want someone to explain to me if the million to one shot that chest feeding became a thing, how that has a detrimental impact to my life?

I mean, I’m pretty sure I get to go about my day as I always have, it’s not like it’s the beginning of the rapture.

Are you worried that if chest feeding became an actual thing that random people are going to start throwing babies at you and your concerned that all these tikes are about to go hungry because you don’t have the right ‘equipment’?

…and to think the conversation was going so well up until this point.

That’s a pity.

Micro aggression, perhaps.
Anyway, in my day we didn’t get so easily upset.

Yeah we did, at least where I grew up, calling someone a wog in Dandenong in the 80’s would have got you stabbed. It won’t anymore.

Plus I reckon you miss that it’s the “in my day” crew who get the most upset when people change the names of ■■■■. So maybe we didn’t get easily upset in the 70’s and 80’s, but these days someone suggests changing the name of celery and it causes some of us to have a coronary :joy:

Times change, that’s my point, when I’d sneak into the bombers change rooms at VFL park in the 80’s there were several players ripping whinny blues post game.

I’m pretty sure players not doing that now is probably better.

Doesn’t ruin my memories of those days tbh

such as?

Just like those you carry on about the use of a ‘flamethrower.’

And that’s where you lose credibility on the matter, Ben. Calling out hysterical right wingers (which is fine) and then being a hysterical left winger.

It’s not the first time you’ve been inconsistent with your principles.

why can’t i have a flame thrower?

Would happily have this convo with you Simmo but not on here. It’s a chat better had in person.

I’m more worried that people get upset about the possibility that chest feeding could become a thing, than I am about chest feeding becoming a thing.

That actually worries me, legitimately.

oh ok so none then

Nah, there’s plenty.

like what?

How am I being an hysterical left winger? :joy:
