Shouldn’t you be judging the Govt for its change in tune since making this decision on free speech? Has it been more accepting of others viewpoints?

On Harmony day.
Where they all wore ribbons.
On the international day to end racism.
PM protects those who are likely to commit an offense.

Not sure it angers me more though than our trade minister saying he shouldn’t legislate same sex marriage because it might upset our trading partners.

It started in 1999 so yep.

Harmony Day began in 1999, coinciding with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination

Yeah, yeah, … but it doesn’t say anything about having the right to be a bigot, or your right to offend abuse, humiliate and/or insult an the basis of someones race/colour etc … sooo…it’s all good, right?

This is just too good…

The government is gagging Labor’s attempt to debate 18C changes in the House.

I don’t want to think about politicians going down on someone in a theatre

Erica Betz is fine with it, as long as they’re different genders.

Also, wrong Alanis song, don’t you think?

I think HMG was being ironic with his reference

Unionism obviously pays well these days.
Bill is such a working class hero.

Moonee ponds has skyrocketed in price in the last decade?

Surely bemoaning someone’s house increasing in value is shouting at clouds?

I think all politicians are grubs and parasites but some of you just hate on party affiliation rather than general ineptitude by parties you hero worship.

Slightly left. Very amusing.

so you’re having a crack at someone based on how much the house they used to live in was sold for by someone else?

WTF has that got do with unions?

How much did he purchase the house for? not in the article, as far as we know (based on info in the article) he could have picked it up for $120,000 when Moonee Ponds wasn’t so hot and just got lucky with the Melbourne property bubble.

Why does everyone in this country keep buying into the divisive us and them politics.

What a news story. Even for Trip this is pretty lame.

Houses haven’t been 120K in Moonee Ponds since Bacchus was a lad.

If Billy Boy wants to play class wars then he should expect to cop some criticism the other way.

He’s a pollie. I’m sure he expects it.

So you reckon because someone is a union rep they should not accept the market increase in property values and just sell for a slight increase, that you deem reasonable, over what they paid.

Even for you that is incredibly stupid.

You are just a stunning example of ideologically driven madness.

I you hadn’t yet worked out what a fkn nong it was, … you have all the evidence you need now.

Hey Tripper/WW - does Moonee Ponds count as ‘inner city elites’? Where exactly is the boundary between those sinister latte-sipping cosmopolitans and the salt-of-the-earth hard working suburban Real Australians that tripper is so keen to rhapsodise about?

Internet Trolls Are Narcissists, Psychopaths, and Sadists
Trolls will lie, exaggerate, and offend to get a response.
Posted Sep 18, 2014

_In this month’s issue of Personality and Individual Differences, a study was published that confirms what we all suspected: Internet trolls are horrible people. _

_Let’s start by getting our definitions straight: An Internet troll is someone who comes into a discussion and posts comments designed to upset or disrupt the conversation. Often, in fact, it seems like there is no real purpose behind their comments except to upset everyone else involved. Trolls will lie, exaggerate, and offend to get a response. _

What kind of person would do this? Some Canadian researchers decided to find out.

_They conducted two online studies with over 1,200 people, giving personality tests to each subject along with a survey about their Internet commenting behavior. They were looking for evidence that linked trolling with the “Dark Tetrad” of personality traits: narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and ■■■■■■. _

They found that Dark Tetrad scores were highest among people who said trolling was their favorite Internet activity. To get an idea of how much more prevalent these traits were among Internet trolls, see this figure from the paper:

Look at how low the Dark Tetrad scores are for everyone except the trolls! Their scores for all four traits soar on the chart. The relationship between trolling and the Dark Tetrad is so significant that the authors write in their paper:

_ “… the associations between ■■■■■■ and GAIT (Global Assessment of Internet Trolling) scores were so strong that it might be said that online trolls are prototypical everyday sadists.” [emphasis added]_

Trolls truly enjoy making you feel bad. To quote the authors once more (because this is a truly quotable article): “Both trolls and sadists feel sadistic glee at the distress of others. Sadists just want to have fun … and the Internet is their playground!”

The next time you encounter a troll online, remember:

_ These trolls are some truly difficult people._
_ It is your suffering that brings them pleasure, so the best thing you can do is ignore them._
