Marty Party!

It would be nice if they just called for an election now.

Reportedly, relations between Pauline and Fraser Anning (Roberts likely successor) are somewhat strained.

Otherwise known as “The Mist Productive Parliament of Recent History”.

Yeah, but try telling them that.

He must have said something that makes some sense.

Which is an interesting question in itself because the facts show you are 100% right.

So why is it now that those two parties just want to ■■■■ can each other?

Surely for the sake of the country they should have doubled down pointed out how it actually … worked

The Greens got carbon pricing out of the deal and then watched as Abbott turned the entire discussion on its head and even convinced Labor to start calling it a “carbon tax”. Labor, in turn decided the Greens were a millstone around their necks because of the way the electorate were reacting to all the press at the time.

They got plenty done but we’re played against each other extremely effectively in the end.

A South Australian Senator, Alexander McLachlan ( from a SA pastoral family) was booted from the Senate in the thirties for conflict of interest. May have been Gil’s great uncle.

Yeah but they had principles in these days.

Principles are a thing of the past for the Tories. You can tell lies (a la Cash) and not worry. You can take bribes while an MP (Billson) and not worry. You can be a dual citizen and be a deputy PM and not worry till the High Court makes a decision (while in the meantime two Greens did the honourable thing and resigned), And so on and so forth.

And as for Gill, his record shows he is no paragon of virtue.

Most Politicians are principled, but like the whole of Society, there is the percentage that are bent.

Back before WW2, there were some very shonky blokes on all sides of Parliament, with little oversight, no policing and a free hand with enormous power. Before WW1 it was much worse and conflicts of interest were not an issue.

Much tougher today to be bent. Maybe the difference is that in the past PM’s were of much stronger character and in total control, compared to our current weasel.

It was a tax. It’s very difficult to polish a turd and even if you managed it, it would still be a turd.

Change to Italian citizenship laws was made in in 1983, three years after Senator Canavan was born. Apparently, there is some uncertainty on whether it can be applied retrospectively and, if so, how far back it would stretch. The High Court was unwilling to countenance that as it could be too confusing so Senator Canavan is lucky.

On your first assertion you are factually incorrect.

Your second, possibly correct.

Your third, absolutely correct.

You know better to argue with zealots, and not sure there is even any of your evil fun in debating an idiot.
