Pre game Harley Reid threatened a 30 disposal game and convincing performance.
He had some nice highlights sure, but it was workmanlike with RObey making him earn possessions.
then he was rested for the last 5 minutes which is what you can do when you have a good lead.
Didnât help my multi, that needed 1 more touch from Reid.
Stats wise - compare the Roberts game to Lachie Whitfield and I thought he competed well gainst Murdock, who got lucky with some frees, but I love Mudock too.
Ball movement inside 50 wasnât great, but also when May went down, Caddy was almost a one man band.
Eagles have now beaten all the teams below them on the ladder. They are a up and coming side.
WE were flogged by Port and beaten by the tigers.
iâm not really sure what you expected. new coach, undermanned.
Compare to prior weeks, felt game was better effort than most of Brads Tenure this year (bar Suns, Dees and first half Anzac day).

I would argue there is carry over, Rosa is clearly better than Dodoro but at the same time show me the legitimate elite pace heâs drafted? We seem very one paced right across the board, even with everyone fit.
Kako is our quickest player and I wouldnt consider him elite pace.
We need legitimate line breakers, and we have very few. We were less â â â â when we had guys who could carry the football up the field to hide the fact half the list butcher it.

there is in the moment, wanting the team to go well and living and dieing on each mistake or small win, and then there is also the realisation of where we are and the injury list and we are likely to lose most games for the rest of the year.
Got to look for the small wins. - Robey v Reid, Caddy v Ginbey, Day-wicks 2 goals could have kicked 3.

I feel like weâve become so immune to a rolling injury crisis as Essenfon supporters that we now donât clearly recognise just how completely patched up that side was against WC.
I mean, donât get me wrong, we are trash, but look at who we rolled out in that 23!! WC should have absolutely belted us really.

Reading some comments in here leaves me wondering how people process information and what they expected against eagles.
New coach, barely 5 mins in charge. Solly has a heart of gold but Sheeds he ainât.
Over a dozen senior players injured. Another one injured by 1/4 time on the night.
Second tier players getting games they normally wouldnât, and âsolidâ senior players doing exactly what theyâve done most of the time in their career
Travelled to Perth, where we struggle at the best of times.
Our only real ruckman just returned recently from a knee reconstruction. No other truly big men at all in our team.
And people in here were disappointed they didnât see anything different, that Solomon is the same as Scott, that half the team should be dropped, that we have no class, that we keep playing duds, that itâs same olâ Essington etc etc
Did sacking Scott suddenly make players stick their tackles, hit their targets, move the ball with silky ease up and down the ground, kick easy and difficult goals, take big marks, take little marks, handball at least 5m and to the chest, be confident of what they are doing and of each other?
Before the eagles game we changed one significant component; the coach. But not with anyone special. With someone, a recent board member, who is never going to be a senior coach at Essendon or anywhere else, and what he has to work with is exactly the same as what was there last week!!!
Itâs painful itâs disappointing it gives us all the sheets, but Rosa/Innes/Regan in, and now Scott gone is heading in the right direction.
Keeping our brood of emerging talent, dare I say stars, at the club is going to be the real challenge for the management.
And appointing a decent head coach and assistants who truly want to be there.

i was getting very angry watching that game with the pathetic umpiring and the praise being lavished on wet toast form the commentators for beating up on a bunch of kids and VFL hacks. It became much more bearable when i turned the volume off and put some good tunes on. Biased is an understatement on both counts

I agree with all of that, except that I was upset that we went in with 4 tall forwards (May, Caddy, Cox, Edwards) and Gresham. Nguyen as a minimum should have played, and maybe Huss as well (for Gresham). Solomon could have legitimately made that change, and it would have both supported the kids (especially if Gresham was travelling emergency) and made a better balance.
