I don't think it would matter who we had at full forward. We only have one player in Zerrett that can deliver the ball to where the forward is going. We need to fix that first.
Goddard, Watson, Heppell, Dempsey, Chappy, Melksham...all able to deliver the ball well.
Problem is the non creation of space for the ball to be delivered into.
You must have been watching different games to me lately. Our delivery into the forward line has been abysmal of late.
In portions yes it absolutely has...but it's not because they are unable to do it. I guess I believe we have the talent and
I'm happy to put my faith in Bomber and the boys and see what they deliver......it's only a year after all :)
Me too. That's why I don't think we need to recruit a forward necessarily. We need to be sure we deliver to where the player is going not where they were. Hopefully we will turn it around soon. We are better than we are playing.
Wright playing for Calder this year is the likely number 1 pick and looks like an absolute monster of a power forward and can take contested grabs and is great on a set shot.
Would love him but doubt we would ever have a chance of getting the number 1 pick.

Absolutely agree.
In the preseason, I was watching games, got really frustrated, and came to the conclusion that it was clearly the midfield's (and the Backline) ball movement just isn't good enough and don't give enough opportunities for the forwards to score goals.
The last few weeks I've been caught up in the blitz hysteria for rubbishing the forwardline. The Brisbane game has confirmed to me that the main issue is the midfield. The slow ball movement is a massive issue. And the opposition are now playing us one on one to make sure none of our players get an easy kick forward of centre.
Exactly.
When someone can find a KPF that we could get who is actually better than Carlisle will be by Rd 22, then we can talk.
Since that's not going to be achievable I suggest we back in the guys we have, and work on the structures and the plan to make it work.
Note the team on top of the ladder has Jay Schulz as one of its key forwards.
jay schulz is a very good player. He's been severely underrated at port

Oh I know, but why would you want to spoil the fun. He's a Richmond reject right. Can't we just go with that?

just like matty white. How much better does he look at port
If we kicked the easy goals last night we'd probably have ended up 12.8.80 and won by a comfortable enough 4 goals. The last month we haven't kicked more goals than points at any stage. When we're only getting limited opportunities due to a poor midfield (only Melbourne and Brisbane have less of the teams that have played 8 rounds), butchering the simple ones makes our forward line look worse.

If ever there was proof that player development and getting the most out of what you have means more than drafting it's those two (and Monfries....)
