Revel in how Essendon beat the Eagles - 2021 round 11

What were West Coast thinking rushing Yeo back with half a game of WAFL footy on the back of 1 year off with OP ?
Is their depth that bad ?

Showed extraordinary arrogance, and quite deservedly bit them on the backside when they lost their best mid early in the game.

If we did sh*t like that this year, we’d be tearing strips off the selection committee.
The worse selection we’ve made this year (IMO) was rushing Stewart back in to play on McKay off 7-8 weeks off, when Zerk was available.

How do we fit Francis back in after ZERKS game last night.

Reeeaaaaly struggling to hold on to my 2021 season expectation of “just show effort every week, play the youngsters, and pick up some good draft picks at the end of the year”

We’re actually fkn good and it’s awesome. We can have a dip in September!

I did enjoy that when the match turned in the third it was on the back of two free kicks(one downfield) in the forward 50 :flushed::rofl:.

Well played bombers.

Didn’t Zerk get a knock, think Zerk and Laverde will both be sore.
Poor old Laverde gets belted every week and doesn’t earn a free.
solid job on Darling, loved him out marking Darling late in last quarter when we were peppering it inside 50.

Maybe the ups saw on the screen how much he dead fished the first one and made a mental note. I reckon he dead fished the one you are taking about too. Suck ■■■■ to the cheat.

I’m off the booze at the moment - long story - but if I wasn’t it would surely be breakfast beers this morning. Have one for me.

Quite easily. Francis is a better player and Zerk-Thatcher was our weakest link, least possession player of the night.

He has pictures of Smith’s injury report.

That was zerks best game of his career.

How were the WC supporters booing the Waterman free on Cox ?
As obvious a free you will ever see.

The earlier Merrett downfield was marginal, but prob still there.
No reason for him to bump Merrett after the kick.

He certainly went to town in the 2nd half … :smirk:

I don’t normally like to make statements like this, but there’s serious 1993 vibes around this team.

Just like then, big clean out of players in the off season and we had a young, quick and talented playing group take the field. By memory, we started the year 1-5, with a draw, then built through the season as the players grew in confidence.

That was a great team to watch, and so is this. Never out of it, either team. There’s even some parallels between Harvey and Laverde - two talented but injury riddled forwards who rejuvenated their career in the back half.

Belief is a wonderful thing. We’re in the 8 now. Who’s to say we won’t remain there?

Breakfast beers and the replay to get you over the edge?

I know they want to go home, but I reckon we have a better chance of beating the Tigers anywhere other than the G.

The 50m was for umpire abuse.
The free was for the action just before the head-ripper, rightly or wrongly.

It certainly wasn’t the traditional umpire reaming we usually get over in Perth last night which was good.

As is always the case in any game we’d have a few that we’d quite rightfully feel aggrieved with (i.e. Stewart in the back on Kennedy) but I can also see that there would have been a few that they’d have been miffed at. And free kick count basically level.

The football alone decided this one and we were too good. In Perth. Against the Eagles. Wtf!? Go Dons :ok_hand:
