We get a hell of a lot more out of a scrapping ugly win like that as opposed to the % booster that many were expecting
When we were challenged we found a way back and managed to be in front when the siren went
Sure it was ugly but it was the kind of game that weâd have rolled over in the past when it got too hard

North came out, and played the best footy theyâve put up all year. You need to give them credit. And you need to give us credit for absorbing it, not giving up, and responding to every challenge. Make no mistake, it was a good win.
Also, Wardlaw is an absolute gun.

Building some resilience that maybe hasnât been there in past years, and are able grind out the wind with a young squad. Group is toughening up.
However donât think Shiel, Hind and Weed fit this ethos for the future. Should only be used as back up at best.

Honest review
Cracking match. Exactly what I expected from North was to come out firing. I was claiming a huge win all week (tongue in cheek) and honestly wasnât worried all match EXCEPT maybe a tiny bit when they got almost 3 goals up. They arenât a completely bad side North, much better than the Eagles this year, but I still expected a more comfortable 3-4 goal win, especially with Simpkin down early followed by Greenwood.
Our captain, is an absolute Star. Zach Merrett is top tier in the AFL and so glad we signed him long term. This man deserves infinity success. His work ethic is second to none and that first quarter was just wow.
Nic Martin was also huge, in the right spots at the right times and kicked a couple of goals.
Ridley was huge in defense with some brilliant grabs.
Caldwell getting plenty of it again which is good to see, as is young Hobbs in and under.
McGrath a little frustrating with those mistakes but damnnnn Phillips takes the cake. He is next level holy â â â â â â â â â â â unco. It looks so easy sometimes with his arms stretched out to take a grab only for it to slip through his hands like heâs been bathing in olive oil.
That snap for goal was horrendous as was the potential match winning kick late in the 4th. Disappointing really, but I donât wanna slander the man, had a role to play and I suppose had to wear a few bumps from big Goldy.
Overall, for us to get down in the trenches and fight for the win was super good to see as winning these tight ones can really lift confidence in this team.
Bring on the Bloosers.

They were only one rotation down for a half. Most of those players have played with 3 man rotations in the past anyway. Didnât think weâd have much of an advantage.
