Essendon are looking good

“I want to go back to the Bombers.

“I just think their performances at the moment, they are 4-2 against the 3-3 Collingwood side who are reigning premiers.

“It sets up ANZAC Day for me and I just think Bombers fans should be up and about.

“The last couple of wins have been huge. I’ve spoken about Sammy Durham until I’m blue in the face. What a great, young fellow to come in and a great attitude to be able to build this new Bombers, this new team around, he plays with the edge.

“So eventually we’ll stop talking about that because it’ll become assumed. He and Zach Merritt, the young and the old, Jye Caldwell has done really well.

“I love Harrison Jones at the front and he will stay in the side when Peter Wright comes back in. It’ll be for one of Sam Draper or Todd Goldstein, it can’t be for Jones. It’s not going to be for Kyle Langford or Jake Stringer.

“For a football club to be having to make these hard calls on choosing two great options or two of three great options and then being able to make the decision on what’s best for the team right here right now.

“Ben McKay behind the ball’s been great and they’ve been doing this without their most important player in my mind and that’s Jordan Ridley. How much better is that defence going to be when he goes into it.

“The question mark here is, have they added defence and team defence to their list of weapons?

“Adelaide from 30 rebounds, just the two scores, just one goal. So that was part of Essendon’s performance.

“If I’m a fan, I’m loving that and I want to see that more because if we can add that to our makeup, add that string to our bow, then I’d be even happier.

“I think they’re, they’re on the way,

I read it in David “try to punch the ball away but hit Hirdy in the face several times by accident” King’s voice.

He absolutely has been banging down the door about Sammy Durham. Loves him and spruiked him all preseason about the move to the middle.

One decision is not a “lifting of the curse”.

Just wait till Anzac Day. I am betting the maggots will be back to their usual form.

No votes for Caldwell is insane to me.

That’s two weeks where Caldwell has been a strange omission from the coaches votes. Wonder if he doing/not doing something which the coaches don’t like.

Also no Durham, to a lesser extent no Jones.

Very interesting. I thought Caldwell was clearly BOG.

The only thing I can think of is that his role was to nullify Dawson and Dawson was Adelaide’s best player.

No one stops dawson in that sort of mood.

Sanctimonious prick

One trend I’ve noticed is that we are getting on the scoreboard very quickly in each game.

Other than the St Kilda game (where we looked really off early), we’ve scored the first goal in the other 5 games and done it in the first 2 minutes and 20 seconds. Quite remarkable.

In recent years you’d typically know which Essendon has shown up by our intensity in first few minutes. So it bodes well that we are coming out quick out of the blocks.

I have only seen the highlights thus far, but one of the stand outs was his utterly pathetic attempt to take an uncontested mark deep in the forward line. Instead of grabbing the opportunity to take the mark kick the goal and win the match for his team, he pulls his arms in, fearing contact. Biggest squib l have seen in a long time. Pathetic and needs to be given a rocket for such a gutless non-attempt.
