Review thread - Dons d Adelaide - the road trip specialists

The work off the ball too. I saw so many good shepherds last night that were critical to our style of play. Haven’t seen that much off the ball stuff in a long time. I know at one stage Zaka held someone off maybe Saad or Connor, for ages and ended up on the ground as a consequence. Haven’t noticed that sort of selfless play from him before. I’m going to watch it all again shortly.

Couldn’t sleep so got up early and watched the replay. Man that squib from Laird on Parish was even more disgusting than it appeared live. Darcy straight lined it and was the only bloke that put his balls on the line in that contest. I was amazed at some of Clarke’s work that goes unnoticed aswell, some great little handballs on the inside that started a chain going forward.

Just watching the replay and i am just as angry about the comments about our depth.

No mention what so ever about the 2’s sitting top of the VFL. Pure ■■■■■■■ laziness to not even look into it p properly before spouting bullshit. ■■■■ absolutley off.

His earlier left foot checkside was like I AM BACK BABY!!!

Who’s the pelican Irish ruined with that solo?

Picked up on that also during last nights call.
That was an ignorant comment.
Smashing them in the VFL
With Draper our for the season.

Yep, it was a comment without any thought. I mean the station these pelicans work for even broadcasts the comp our reserve’s side is top of.

That 50 against Parish would have to be the worst “protected zone” 50 I have ever seen. He was absolutely nowhere near Jenkins. Usually it’s because the player runs past within a few meters or doesn’t change direction enough…Parish was at least 10 meters away… Speaking of measurements, pretty sure in the first or second Laird must have ran at least 20 meters when kicking out from a point, or based on some of the “15m” kicks that are paid as marks, he clearly ran at least 30m.

The replay has just started on Fox.

It was “protected zone” but there really needs to be a softer penalty for that. Maybe even a 15 or 25mtr penalty.

Maybe the umpire thought the protected zone included the man on the mark. Such incompetence wouldn’t surprise me.

Gave myself a “solo” when I saw that.

Easy to get carried away when we win but this game has almost as many highlights as the rest of the year.
Stringers goal
Best team goal of the year; 7 handballs and a Walls 50m kick to a solo Brown in the square.
Merretts last qtr
Merritt’s teasing bouncing just enough goal (how good was the pick up???)
Parish pick up and handball
Browns kicking for goal x 4
Walla handball to McGrath
Irish Gaelic trickery

And most incredibly the umpire blew the whistle for a Heppell hold to ice the game!!!
I never thought I’d hear ‘Holding, Essendon’ ever again!!! And 30 directly in front of goal

Just saw the Tex elbow incident, he was definitely going for a cheap shot. Well done by Redders.

Its not as fun as the north or sydney one.

Opposition View:

Summary

  • They really don’t like Tex
  • They really don’t like Pyke
  • They really don’t like Lynch
  • They really dont like the slow midfielders

“Raising the retirement age to 67 has had a big effect.”

I’m stealing that line.
