Review thread - Local team killed in shootout

Sums up our club for the last 15 years.

Nailed it one.

We invented new ways to miss certain goals and turn the ball over - very similar loss to the Richmond and Melbourne ones where are muck up easy things to gift the opposition goals.

But, unlike those losses, the umpiring today was unbelievable with the run of decisions that went Bulldogs way after half time.

Unfortunately we don’t play them at the G!!!

Again i think our returning ‘stars’ are not and haven’t been big game players. I think we’ll become a good team when daniher, merrett etc take the mantle.

Adelaide would have to be the single worst team in the comp to have a shootout against, and apparently that’s our game plan now.

Haven’t checked the VFL thread, but hopefully AMBO is ready to resume the backline tank role next week.

He wins that for us today, regardless of our nervous execution fails.

Felt everything went against us today.

Our strengths and weaknesses, their strengths and weaknesses, the bounce and the frees. Nothing clicked but we were only a few meters off consistently.

I thought the dogs played well and earned their win though.

The dogs brought the pressure we brought the turnovers

Hooked should be ashamed of himself after that performance

Jobe needs a tap on the shoulder

Colyer needs to be dropped. Done very little all year. Him not helping our Goddard in the scuffle but just standing 20m away watching is inexcusable and he be should dropped on that alone

If we miss finals from here the it will of been a wasted season

Not getting into JJ was just pathetic and dumb beyond comprehension

Bad goal kicking is bad football. Of our 6 forwards only Stewart and JD played well. Down back Hurley played rubbish yet again when having to man someone. Kelly, Bags down, same with Gleeson, only really McKenna giving run.

We love Zerret, but he had a chance to show up the Bont. Failed. Too many in the midfield were down. Zaha, a little Heppel, Parish the exceptions.

But if we kick straight, we can still win.

Yeah, Jobes performance ws a worry.

Thought (sadly) that it was one that might make him fall to the negative as far as going on is concerned. Bugger of a day for him.

We could have won had we not gifted them so many goals in their F50.

I’m not sold on this idea.

He’s missed the whole season. Let him miss the rest unless his VFL form is undeniable.

It hasn’t worked bring lav in cold.

See I disagree. The game plan wasn’t the reason for the Dogs scoring so highly today. It was the turnovers and the fact we lack a decent midfield. Even if we tried playing a more Freo like defensive game we still would have lost.

We seriously need to fix the midfield and get some more grunt.

Handball to a contest. The only time we looked dangerous was when we kicked long to dangerous spots but kept reverting back to handballs to a contest where the Dogs mids dominated. When Zerret gets held we have no answers around the stoppages and our lack of pace and gut runners see our opponent clear with ease

Our backline is normally our best strength but today was absolutely putrid.

Massive over reaction by everyone here.

This wasn’t a game where we lost like the Brisbane game, we were actually pretty good all day - minus kicking for goal.

Beaten at our own game, who’s game style we modelled off the Dogs.

Master beats the apprentice this time round.

You think Ambrose neutralising Cloke would have made a difference? Cloke was already non existant.

Why? He’s shown himself to be our best lock down defender, could have used him massively today… he’s never going to have undeniable VFL form with his style of playing. He doesn’t play an explosive game either I don’t see how him missing half the season stops him from being good 1 on 1 and allowing Hurley to play that 3rd man up role he’s so suited to

We are a good team. Our best is better than anyone. Even in the last we had multiple opportunities to win, we were ALL over them. But we’ll never be a good team until we can mentally harden up. For over 10 years, the big opportunities, we wet our pants. Il give you one example. Anzac Day. How many times did you say to yourself “dumb” today? A million. Look at hooker play on from 30cm out. Good players, and clubs don’t do that stuff. Good clubs don’t let JJ and Bont run riot ALL day, that was pathetic from worsfold today

It’s a ingrained culture. It’s a cancer. We are mentally weak.

Get some fkn balls and put a line through colyer, Myers and Watson. All three are not best 22

When you have our midfield, this game plan causes turnovers.

You can’t take a list that’s unsuitable for the game plan you let them figure out themselves, not modify it then blame the players.

It’s unsustainable now as it was under knights.
