Review thread round 19: Essendon vs Ducks

Jackson Merrett BOG again.
That's how it's done right?

You're a broken record.
Keep talkin' him up.
Even a broken clock is right once a day.
I'm not talking him up at all. You just seem to single him out at every opportunity, its not as though he's the only one to play a poor game.

J merrett's had 3 consecutive bad games
who do we have though? dell in? merrett sub?

Was good against pies, not so good the last two weeks, like several others. Some posters are just obsessed with taking things out on one person. Alas its the internet....

He does deserve the vest IMHO.

There are sides that I hate more than the ducks, but am at my angriest when we play them. It’s all down to the fact that we get rogered by the umpires every time, even when we play them down here. Tonight was no different.

Didn’t expect to win but we probably could have if our start was better. On form we should salute in our last four home and away games, especially with a couple of key blokes back.

Hurley was magnificent. Onward and upward from here.

Seriously, why are people criticizing Bellchambers inclusion? FFS, he wasn’t supposed to light the world on fire.

He was in for structual reasons! Allowed Paddy to play more fwd!

How many poor ones can he have without being dropped? I make it atleast a dozen this year

I agree.

Missed Joe tonight

Head ducking cheats the lot of them, it's the way they have been trained to play.

the thing that really ticks me off, is the umps reward them for it.

What a joke.

At least we now know what all that extra COLA cash if for, paying off the umps!

Can’t be too mad at the team. First quarter costly and we had chances but didn’t take them. Umpiring was rubbish yes but not blaming it for the loss. At least we didn’t get thrashed. Now to win remaining games.

Annoyed me how they said jake not doing well when scragged and arms chopped every opportunity by grundy. We couldn’t buy a free in forward 50. An early free means less holding. No free means Grundy can do whatever he wants.

We never play well after these ■■■■ ■■■■ byes. We have one off quarter and still did well. Missed a lot of the first half but reading some of the posts the umpiring was a little bad.

I think this was the week we missed Jobe the most.

I always forget how much I hate the Swans and Goodes until we play them, it's the worst.

This x10000

Exactly. Does anyone think Paddy would have had the impact he had without someone to rotate with? What we needed was someone else to step up in the forward line....some decent delivery in may have helped too.
Umpiring wasn't great, but we did give away a lot of high frees. How does tippet get tackled around the neck, he's 300 cm tall?

Maybe somebody in the media can take up the cause of the free kicks for us…HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa.

Belly's game wasn't that bad, and his inclusion made sense from a tactical point of view.

Like I said before the game however you can't go into a game like that carrying out of form players

JMerrett 13 disposals 53 de and 4 clangers

Howlett 12 50de and 3 clangers

It pretty much meant no one else on the field could have an off night, when you factor in Belly would have a low output, so it was no wonder we struggled, then you add in guys who had purple patches of bad form during the game, esp the first qtr.

Those 2 players are prolly only saved by the fact that there were other players who probably had more of an off night, than their low output.

A truly good side would have taken the Swans tonight, ridicidulous umpiring notwithstanding.

They phoned it in for the most part.

We stil make way too many skill errors and our decision making is second rate.

Ambrose has been down in form ever since Joey went down. He’s often taking 2nd/3rd best def atm.
