Review thread V Pies

Everyone over the age of 23 won’t be around when we’re next competing in finals.

Good thing is that everyone under the age of 23 looks alright for where they’re at in their development.

Frame how you look at our games that way and try and not get too caught up in the highs and lows along the way

Neoclous please

I remember going to Ess v Coll games prior to the Anzac day game starting and every year it was a huge game. I remember going to the second time we played each year and it regularly got 85,000 plus.

I wouldn’t care if they took it off us. Least we won’t get flogged on such a public scale.

  • I’m so glad that Scott decided to reduce our forward 50 pressure by bringing in an extra midfielder.
  • I’m so glad Scott decided to play Langford down back and Edwards on a wing.
  • I liked starting one CB with Reid on the wing.
  • I’m so glad that Parish, Merrett, Caldwell, Duursma played with such composure today.
  • I’m so glad Ridley was available…

So, why didn’t we trade Merrett and Ridley?

Agree with all this but the Langford thing- don’t let today deceive- he completely cooks our balance and needs to play back

Are we talking fans or players? Decent argument for either.

I think he’s been fine on the wing. Using him as the Ridley replacement was silly.

Back from the game, walked the dog, had a beer and a herbal infusion. Very disappointing. Just about everyone bar Robbo had the fumbles, couldn’t get any uncontested marks to break it up and get out, some horrible defending. A step back. Their good players were exactly that. When they get going they are still really good as a team. Not many positives. What have they got next week will be interesting

I’ll accept wing then but not the forward line ever again, or as long as we insist on playing the 3 talls

Can’t wait for WELSHY’s PR offensive against this week.

SWAGGER

(Oh no, he only does it after a win.)

The club says we’re not rebuilding, the evidence supports that, but keep some Blitzers keep on believing we are.

No Ridley, no Essington

Maybe we should look on the bright side. Richmond are sufficiently rubbish we might win Dreamtime. Or get pick #1.

If we call last year ‘not a flogging’ given we actually lead half way into the 3rd Qtr with a depleted team, when was the last time we actually lost badly on ANZAC Day ?

The calls for “take the game off us” is honestly sooky lala stuff.

Most of the clashes since 2016 have been really close.

They are all reasonable thoughts and very rational, but no one has the stomach for a proper rebuild or even believes it will be a success or the club will do it properly so, why bother. Until there is some evidence this will be done properly then these are, unfortunately, like a lot of what the club gives us, just words

I agree cant remember the last time we got beaten this badly on AD would have to be 2016

Putting 2016* aside, the last time they smashed us on Anzac Day was 2010.

From memory, 2018 was a poor result.

(I haven’t checked)

‘19, ‘22, ‘23, ‘24 all close losses or draw.

‘17 & ‘21 we won.
