We weren’t ever losing that game.
BZT needs to work out a way to play on guys like Allen. I’m fine with him getting the job all night and using it as a learning opportunity.
They had no forward pressure, but they did have Oscar Allen. Soon we will get 2MP back. Remember him?
Anyway they had 4 tackles inside 50, we had 12. Generally tackles were about equal.
I wish we could get running stats for the whole list, seems like the only ones that we get are the top 5 from each category, anyway wouldn’t mind seeing how he’s been going coverage wise
Exhausting grind of a 50 point win which should have he been a bit more.
How many times did we kick long to tippa in the first half. He’s finishing is clearly suffering for lack of fitness. Just doesn’t have the Last burst of power he needs and it’s impacting his confidence around goal.
Martin should have been thrown on ball in that game because he was red hot and Merrett was carrying a huge load in there. Desperately need at least Shiel back.
I really think we need another marking option up forward because when we get put under pressure in our defensive half we fall down really badly at half forward.
Think it would help get Langford or stringer a better match up too.
Thought we had two guys go the ball carrier a lot tonight rather than having one close down the handball option. We clearly weren’t quite at our best.
Zerk needs to get more assertive with his positioning against fast players. Ridley was great for all bar one contest.
Back that up next week with a similar result and throw all the chips in vs Carlton to secure that win. Hopefully get a few back after the bye.
They’ve got some bigger names out probably, but those big names are largely old, living on past glories, and on the way down anyway. Shuey, Naitanui and SPS are all from the Hurley draft ffs, and Darling is from Heppell’s draft. McGovern is just as old. If you’re reliant on them to be any good, you’re stuffed already.
I thought he did ok at times and adjusted himself a bit after the 3 goals were kicked. He wasn’t allowing him to take marks directly in front and was pushing him out to the flanks. He adjusted. It was a good experience for him imo.
Yeah I’m with you. Terrible game but that’s all down to West Coast not is.
This wasn’t a game where we played poorly, people just forget how bad it is watching a team do full court flooding. West Coast had no chance of winning at any stage tonight. Was just all out flood to limit the damage with the odd fast break rebound.
Oh no, what an outrageous comment I made to be considered a melt. /s
We were just lucky we weren’t playing a decent AFL standard team. It was a standard Essendon doing no more than they needed to type of performance against poor opposition. The same type of performance that saw us lose last year.
