I will have nightmares tonight after watching Menzie getting run down, fumbling the ball when he was 10 metres clear running towards goal.
Perkins is a spud, Hind would have made a better sub.

In fairness, even though I don’t have him 22 he has played some very good games this year.
He should be a solid 24-28 listed player.
If Reid was fit I’d hope lav wouldn’t be playing but even Reid is an unknown
Their last goals started from their players on the move at stoppages.

So much wrong with that. We’re simply incapable of maintaining a defensive system for a whole year. There is very little pressure on the ball coming out of D50. Partly that’s personnel. Guelfi and Menzie are not quick enough to put on real or referred pressure. We looked far better with Davey’s pace in the team. We then dropped the only player with genuine pace in Hind. Structurally the smalls are not in the right spot to put pressure on or crumb a goal. We also allowed an easy diagonal kick on kickouts and then pushed up too late or too early.
The press is a disaster at the moment. Too many of our defenders are caught in no man’s land. We then don’t seem to have enough numbers at the contest so we’re getting killed out the back. We’d be better off keeping a defender back off the contest like Geelong do with Stewart.
Speaking of our back six. Yikes. We just keep losing contests regularly like we have done all year. Statistically we’re bottom 2 for one on one losses in D50. Ridley and Mckay both like to intercept and it’s a problem.
The midfield balance is also off. For the love of god can we get Stringer out of the middle. He’s a defensive liability. We also insist on playing Perkins as a defensive stopper. I don’t think it suits him and takes away his attacking strength. He’s not a natural ball winner so forcing him to defend as his sole objective nullifies his ability to get the ball. He can’t be sub and at a defensive role.
Lastly we’ve got 6 games to go and we don’t know what our best structure is. That’s a problem. We also have failed to blood players so we have no idea what we have with the Daveys, Hayes and Bryan. That’s also a problem.

He is a lazy spud, never plays close to his opponent.
I spoke with Paddy Ambrose this week, now there is a player who didn’t give an opponent an inch. Pity he got injured, still looks fit and probably at 32 and injured would be better than Laverde.
The clappers will tell you getting zero games into hayes is the perfect Essendon development plan at play, hahaha we are delusional

I still don’t understand why we aren’t playing Hind in the small forward role. It’s not perfect or ideal but the best of a bad bunch.
Menzies hasn’t worked. Davey provided perceived pressure but was just as big of a liability as Menzies for lack of any actual pressure.

I think the pressure will definitely be on him. Has been very disappointing. Plays his favourites and doesn’t seem to excel in the coaching box. I hate Hawthorn and Mitchell but would love to have a coach like that in charge.

The game was done when Adelaide kicked 8 in a row. I knew it. The players knew it. They are mentally weak. Even being up in the last, and even late, i knew we would lose

Earlier in the year ok as we were shutting games down and grinding them out, it’s a very very long way from that at the moment
